I was in amchi-mumbai for the sunday and what better than spending time with friend at Pritvi hang-out...Irish Coffee..talking ..we noticed a play running at 6...checked out the reviews...and thought 'Lets try'...

Well...it was worth all the time...a time well spent..

An innocous start...Weekly meeting of the commitee members of the Jagruti Co-operative Hsng Society , Khar...

The Chairman - Ramnik bhai...a typical gujju...so typically enacted that I had to check repeatedly if he wasnt gujju in reality...too good...

Manisha..his daughter-in-law...the sensible female...

Secretary - a christian..

all other member - a wealthy well-educated sauve Bengali .. I thought he was a bit too loud at times...

Tom Alter as a sikh gentleman...

Dinyar Tirandaz as a Parsi who speaks his mind all the times..

A muslim gentleman and loud-mouthed lady..

Sexy Jayati who runs a massage parlour..

The local hood - Shanti bhai...his dumb bodyguard..

All the characters are very strong ... and very real...we see them around all the time...

The play is divided into 4 parts...each is the scene of the weekly meeting for progressive days...

It starts with general meeting ...some minor disagreements ..and flares into something very scary..a murder...paranoism...distrust towards each other..

isnt it happening the same way throughout the country ??

The play takes you thrugh all this with humor..sometimes black...I caught myself laughing at some terrible things...that is the power of Vikram Kapadia's script..

Its thought-provoking in a very believable way..

Do catch it if you can...

Worth it...
