After PAGE 3 from Madhur Bhandarkar,i just thought he is simply the best director in the Indian cinema.But when he commented , I am a kid in front of Sanjay Leela Bansali,i was shocked.I watched BLACK(had to).It was a bigger shock.I ended up concluding that Madhur you are not just kid but an infant in front of Sanjay Leela Bansali.
BIG B : I have always liked Amitabh Bachchan but somehow always at the back of my mind there was this feeling that he is a sort of luckily overrated ''Superstar of the millenium''. OK If there is no one better than him then at least there are 10-15 actors in the Indian cinema history which were not less than Amitabh Bachchan.
And I watched BLACK......
I understood how wrong I was.Amitabh Bachchan has no comparison.I was comparing him with Bollywood actors but his act in the movie made me conclude that he hardly has any comparison in Hollywood.I just concluded it was a stronger character than my all time favourite Tom-hanks Forrest Gump(Oscar winner).
The movie is absolutely a new dimension to the Indian Cinema where direction and performances are touching the new horizons.
BLACK is about positivity,about achieving the impossible heights,about values of efforts,value of failure and learning from failure.Its about seeing a dream ,not with eyes,but with mind and achieving the dream.
People love the realistic movies where u can match urself with the characters of the movie but this one is a step ahead.This is about watching the special characters which are not like you but become an inspiration for you.
BLACk is again not an art movie where u find everything ''not bad'' till the end.BLACK also has that commercial attraction directed in a beautiful manner that every second u r waiting for the next second.Its not a slow movie again.U dont realize that how fast u reach at the interval of the movie.
Cinematography is great and every small thing in the set,even kept at the back end which noone is going to see,is taken care of so beautifully by director.
The character of Michelle has been described so completely that sexual contact b/w student and teacher was the most necessary and best scene of the movie(This is for those who say that smooch scene was there to add a little masala in the movie.)
BLACK is a very intelligent movie.More intelligent you are,more you will like the movie. The scenes like understanding the charcter of a deaf-dumb-blind from birth where how tough is to teach the person the very basic fact that there is an object and it has a unique identification(a new born see this basic fact or hear it).A high weightage of complete first half is given to this very fact which makes this movie realistic.
Be it the last scene of the movie where Rani didnot react to his teacher's first positive reaction just because she is blind .
Where the movie has too much optimism,it does not deviate from the realism.Its not shown that such a challenged girl while studying with normal students is completing safely her degree.That would have deviated it from realism.Because this is simply next to impossible.It has been truely shown that she took 20 odd years in completing the degree which a normal child do in 3-4 years.But the gyst was she did it.
The two Michelles: Both the Michelles(child artist and rani) have given terrific performances in the movie and equally good.If rani gave her best in second half,the first half completely belonged to Ayesha.If I have to rate these stars out of 100,i would give 99.5 each to BIGB and SLB and 85 to Rani and child character.(which is also amazing performance)
Is there anything lacking in the movie : PERFECTION is impossible. Having said so great about the movie,it would be wrong on my part to raise a question about anything.But still,i find(not sure if it is understandable) one logically undigestable thing.This one is a technical effort. Michelle from very beginning(as a child before teacher came) could uniquely identify her mother(as she calls her mother by putting her right arm up and mother says she is calling me).Wasn't it a unique identification for an object(mother).
In the end , I would conclude by saluting Sanjay leela bansali for such a conscious and good effort for showing a new dimension to the indian cinema.
