Pain, pathos, misery and suffering is the USP of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The best part being that bhansali is an expert at weaving these emotions with a tight thread decorated with magnum sets, hefty costume display and the traditional classic melodramatic theatric performances.

BLACK more than anything is an extension on 'khamoshi' in terms of technology and presentation. It adds whatever khamoshi lacked.

A brilliant background score, fantastic camera work and of course the larger than life canvas are the key areas of improvement as far as bhansali is concerned.

But still Black turns out more of a beautiful body without a soul.

The story has been talked about a lot of times by now. So I won't waste your time with the story. Rather lets talk about what has not been mentioned yet. Everyone seems to be craving at the fact that Black is an oscar product. Agreed! Because when you watch the movie it appears like a conscious attempt to woo the oscars and gain adulations from a world cinema viewpoint.

The language is not even Hinglish. It is more of English, which has been very conviniently justified with the ambience and anglo-indian characters.

Amitabh Bachhan and Rani Mukherji deliver a satisfactory performance. But the actors worth mentioning are the small girl Ayesha (rani Mukherji's as a child) and Shernaz Patel in her mothers role. They steal the show with effortless ease and provide a delight in this otherwise loud and hamm show.

Khamoshi was a masterpiece in every sense possible. It deserved all the fame and recognition in the world. But the fact that it bombed badly at the box-office resulted in Bhansali's heart-broken display of creativity that followed after khamoshi. He is not the one to be blamed. Khamoshi was his passionate love affair and now he is trying to revive his love for movies and experience his lost innocence by display of luxury and wealth on screen.

Go watch Black, but try to see what I saw or felt. I am not being a harsh critic. But my heart cries for Bhansali when he makes a devdas or black when somewhere even he knows that he can do better or maybe the best.

Black definitely deserves a watch for the sheer pleasure of movie-viewing and a great background score by Monty.
