I booked a Maruti WagonR LXi from Bimal Auto, Indira nagar on Mar 24, 2007. I did a few calls to some dealers like Pratham motors, Mandovi motors & personally walked into Mandovi & Bimal. All these dealers gave you the "customer is king" feeling until you book the car. Bimal gave me the normal discounts that any maruti dealer offered. However I got a little more discount as I had booked my car along with my friend. I wanted to get my car reg. done before 31 Mar, as the road tax in Karnataka was going up from Apr 1st.
As soon as I paid the booking amount, the customer executive started showing her real color... She didn't offer any discount for the accessories as promised during the deal fixing time. During the vehicle delivery, I was asked to pay the credit card service charges (this was promised to be waived off). However I insisted on not paying this money as this was promised before the deal was being fixed. Similarly, the additional discount offer of Rs. 1.5k for booking 2 WagonR's was also taken off during the delivery time. This too had to be fought out with the customer executive & at last after speaking to someone Sr. to her, she agreed.
So my advise to all new car buyer's is, "Ask these people to give a quotation/offer of whatever discounts are promised". Otherwise you'll have to sweat it out to get the deal fixed...
