A modern day Lord Krishna & sudama....Plz folks dont be mistaken that I am comparing Lord Krishna with shahrukh...but I am just comparing the themes...
Earlier..in the 1980's & 90's there were many films on friendship...but most of the time it turns out to be a Triangle love story...Ram Avtaar, Kala Bazaar, Khudgarz, Saajan, Qurbani etc...Or the ever classic..Dosti, Sholay, Agneepath..most of the times..one of the friend sacrifices his love & life for the other.....
Or films like Ishq, Saathi where misunderstandings or enemity crops up due to professional differences(Cop & Criminal)...Or friends fighting for ones cause...Tezaab, Arjun, Shiva etc..These plots were successful in those times...& we have been entertained by some exceptional performances....
Priyadarshans plot was a bit outdated....An emotional saga...filled with an underplayed Irrfan Khan & a heavy dose of overacting from King khan..Lara Dutta was a mismatch..rest of the cast just average....Music..maybe it was striking the right chord when we listened or saw the promos...but in the film except for deepika, priyanka & kareena..nothing was applauding enough..seems they were loosely inserted just to fill in gaps...
Priyadarshan has given us some good comic flicks...Hera pheri, Hungama, Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Bhulaiya..even his Gardish was outstanding....but as it's the human tendency to experiment..so...
He tried to broke the jinx of his superb partnership with akshay..his unmatched comic timing..& tried to make something different...but it fell flat...Be it Kyon Ki or Kabhie na Kabhie...Whenever he tries anything 'hatke'..he gets big 'jhatke'...
King khan is getting older is quite visible in close shots, he lacked the finesse in his dance maybe because of his shoulder injury.Gauri khan did a good thing on the welcome song when she tries to make the fans remember some of the unforgettable moments of king khan...but king khan u desperately need a makeover....WE NEED THE KABIR KHAN OF CHAK DE..OR THE MOHAN BHARGAV OF SWADES...
So here's a fan of Priyadarshan suggesting him to bring back his lucky charm..Akshay..as he also needs a hit after the debacle of CC2C...so team up again to give us one of the biggest hits of this year... As far as this film is considered..Hmmmmm..Avoidable....
