I have been hearing about BigBasket from the internet and decided to give it a try, even after seeing some disappointed customers. So here is my experience.
The Big Basket WebSite:
This site attractively positions the products it sells through the site.
I noticed a few products that are listed as good deals on the home page or easily accessible links are actually premium brand products. If you are not keen on buying a premium branded item, you might as well browse and compare the prices with other brands which might take a bit more of your browsing time.
Adding to Cart a.k.a the add to Basket feature is really seamless. Even if you have multiple browser tabs open your shopping cart is updated in every tab/browser window.
Review and Check out option gives multiple payment options like Pay by cash including Sodexo coupons, Amex card, PayUMoney and Credit/Debit card options.
The items ordered:
After seeing the review, I ordered only packaged items as many had concerns about the vegetables/fruits not being delivered right. So my order was more of monthly household use items.
Keep your Word on delivery time: This is where I have to give a low rating to Big Basket team. They should have either said 7am-12 noon and 12 noon-6pm in their delivery commitment, instead they promise a 2.5 hr slot which in my case was missed by an hour and a half. I was at home, so this was not a big issue for me, but there could be people waiting for this delivery and then plan to move to their office or other works.
Packaging the items and delivery:
They have neatly packaged them in baskets around 6 baskets or so in my case and were all sealed until they reached my house. I'm assuming this was done so that the delivery team doesn't tamper with the goods on the way or may be for ease of delivery.
Delivery was real quick with them handing over a printout of my order and unsealing each basket and placing them on a table where I requested them to keep.
The deliver person waited until I verified all the items.
The Add Ons: Having ordered items close to Rs. 3000, I also got a chance to pick up a coupon for BIGSEPT that saved me 6% on their price excluding VAT.
Some promotional vegetable pack also got delivered for free, may be to give me a taste of how the vegetables are delivered. Tomatoes, Potatoes and Onion were in good shape at delivery time.
