Just two days before only I finally thought of switching from Cable mode to DTH mode because of cable's bad picture quality and unavailability of all channels and no brand. So I already had done some enquiry as 3 months before only I had made up my mind to finally get a DTH to my HD ready LCD. I did lots of research and took advice of existing DTH customers.
I had shortlisted, TATA SKY being most favourite of all, Airtel being cheapest and BigTV being known for good picture quality and more HD channels. Of course I read lots of comments in Mouthshut review section as well and found that Dish TV is at 4th place, then airtel, then Big Tv n on top its TATA SKY. Its based on Satisfactory % ratio. Though if you read review of each customers then even TATA sky customers seems not happy with its STB and price n services.
I read lots of bad review for BIG TV but my exp was totally opposite of it. So based on review I considered only Tatat Sky n Big TV. Now I had to choose between these two and I was almost going towards TATA Sky based on it's customer satisfactory result. But then I went to their websites n found that for all channel package Tata Sky is offering min 420 whereas in BIG Tv you just need to pay 315 monthly. This does not include HD package. and then when I found that. Both the customers are complaining same thing, like customer care service problem was a huge problem and then some common stuff. then if both the customers are facing same issue then why should I pay higher to face same issues. and based on my some existing BIG TV subscribes suggestion n their experience, I chose BIG over TATA, two reasons, first BIG TV has better picture quality over TATA sky n second it's price n offers.
So I booked it at 5 pm on Saturday, they said it will be done soon. so on Sunday by 1 pm they reached my place. n overall installation took atleast an hr to finish it and I got one month free Max package. then I started viewing all the channels. And man, I was so glad that I finally switched from Cable to DTH. and found that almost all the channels are their. So no complain with that. Yes my mum is only complaining still as she used to watch few Hindi channels so it was easier for her to remember channel numbers and those were only in two digits, whereas here it's a big problem. even I don't remember channel numbers of my fav channels. so I simply grouped them in Fav categories. So this is a kind of Cons for me, can't they make it a bit easier for us, we need to go upto 500 from 200 to find any channel.
HD Experience: Wow, as soon as I thought of HD channel only Star Cricket came in my mind, and my TV is not Full HD its HD ready only but man it looked so real and so nice. that time only I made my mind that I will have HD channel ADD on in my package list. it's worth watching live HD cricket matches and some other nice HD channels. you get best picture quality. But I couldn't enjoy this great fun for long, within 5 mins my STB started giving some trouble n later I found that when I try to watch any HD channel then it restarts automatically. then I looked in some help but couldn't find. finally I made a call to cc n then they upgraded its software, I thought it would work but it didnt/ so finally they booked a complaint and now within two days one enginner will come and he may replace the STB if found faulty.
So now what I don't understand, while reading review of those existing customers in Mouthshut, almost 99% had written same thing, that when you try to call them, they don;t pick your call or if they do then they let you wait for 10 to 20 mins, but sorry to say I didn't face any such problem man. Which number do you people Dial? Or are you people Genuine or it's like just to make your opponent look worse you all are doing this? This is Nonsense man. Here we write our own experience so that people able to take decision based on our exp but some people here are doing this purposely. Anyway, I knew it so I didn't completely dependant on their reviews.
so far my overall satisfactory result with BIG tv is 99%. First of all, my booking went well. I had booked at local dealer not Reliance Gallery. within 24hours the installation was done, the shopkeeper told me if I had booked it before 2pm then installation could have been done on the same day. then no problem with installation. or no hidden charges. I paid 2990 for HD setup box. got a month free MAX pack. the Engineer visit of Rs 175 has been laid off caz of one year warranty of the STB. and main thing, no problem with connecting to CC. In my first call only they picked my call, and transferred my call to Technical dept, and then they helped me to upgrade the STB and finally booked a complaint and explained me everything.
My advice to who ever going to book a DTH, go through each review and try to find out who are genuine and who are not. and then have words with your friends who are already using it. This will help you to choose your best. My friends have Tata Sky n Airtel and they are having good time with it but then too I went ahead with Big TV because one of them had told me Big TV has got best picture quality and I think this is the main reason that we are switching from cable to DTH then why not go ahead with the one who is offering best pic quality.
