They offered me a STB for Rs.1990 with all channels free for a year. They said if I paid Rs.200 extra I'd get three sports channels additional free.
Being the trusting kind, I paid Rs.4, 000.00 and bought two, one for my home in lieu of my existing DISH TV, and one more for my shop.
Nice and prompt, the, installation crew arrived the second day. In my shop, we left it for later, as they said, moving it after fitting, was not allowed, and would cost Rs.700.00 extra, and only they should do it as the Dish and STB belongs to Anil Ambani and they would sue me (I'm not lying, the guy actually told me that I'd be sued!)
So since I'm planning on a lite roof for my shop and as I am easily scared, we decided to fit at my house and leave they shop for later.Nice, polite, efficient fitment. Paid the guys Rs.200 as tip too.We watch Asianet.... No Asianet for two days, they said, the channel needs time to arrive... I guess these latest gizmos need to warm up for 48 hours before they can recieve signals, but as I already had the DISH TV in parallel, we did not worry.
After two days Asianet, etc arrived. After another few days, on Onam day, while we were watching an ad filled exciting movie, Asianet, Cartoon Network & Co. disappeared. BIG TV has a un reachable Toll Free Number, and an always busy number 022-3033 8888, which I tried at three hour intervals for four days till I got a contact at 6.00 A.M.
I was politely informed that I need only buy a scratch card to get to watch my favorite channels.o to watch Asianet and Cartoon network, I need only buy two scratch cards of just Rs.25/- each every month. I did not ask about the other channels, but I guess I only need pay Rs.25 for each channel I want to watch.
That is really cool, because this way I get to decide which channels I want to see, and I need only pay for those.With Dish TV, I had to shell out Rs.310 per month.I now have an even cheaper way to watch BIG TV, If I don't install my second STB, I will save the Rs.200 tip I'd otherwise pay.
If I don't watch 20 channels evey month, I'll save Rs.500.00 per month. This way in five years I'll save Rs.500 X 12 X 5 = 30, 000.00. I love the Ambani's for offering me such a great plan. I'm now going to not buy ten BIG TV STB, and I'll save Rs. 600, 000 by not watching 40 channels every month. I just want someone to tell me how not to invest the Rs.6 lakhs and save another 60 Lakhs.
