Limp Bizkit : yet another alt-rock group beating you over the head with their pain, encouraging you to 'Break Stuff'.....the joy.
The Critics came down very hard on Fred Durst's fourth studio album 'Results May Vary' ,slamming it as 'a complete piece of crap' and 'total waste of money'..
I was actually pleasantly surprised to find that Results May Vary had plenty of substance, something missing from Limp's previous attempts. The group doesnt seem to miss departed guitarist Wes Borland. Those looking for heavy, trashy songs can look elsewhere....believe it or not, half the songs on this CD are acoustic. Yep, you heard me right : ACOUSTIC. Before you gasp in total horror - hear me out. It aint that bad......the best songs on the album ARE the acoustic ones.
Don't believe me? Try out 'Lonely World'.
Let's Gun the tracks down:
- Re-Entry : Awesome, Heavy intro. Loved it.
4.5/5
Eat You Alive : So-So. 3/5
Gimme the Mic : Typical Limp Bizkit stuff, in the same vein as Take a Look Around. Pretty Cool. 4/5
4, 5, : Mediocre stuff...3/5
Almost Over : I love the rapping part of this! 4.5/5
Build A Bridge : Mediocre 3/5
Red Light Green Light : This one features Snoop Dogg. Awesome rapping, real groovy beat. Freak, baby! 5/5
9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16: Mediocre.....3/5
- Lonely World - The Best Song on the CD : 5/5
If you look above, you'll see the main problem with Results May Vary...half of it shrouded in mediocrity, illuminated by moments of brilliance...
Creamer (Radio Is Dead)'' and ''Lonely World'' get by on Linkin Park-style electronic textures, stutter-step rhythms and catchy, cathartic choruses. Durst still raps like a newbie, but he also hasn't lost his knack for hard, heavy hooks -- and you don't have to feel his pain to get off on his new sound.
Give it a try. It aint as bad as everyone claims it is...
Final Score : 3.5/5
