Amitabh Bachchan wasnt really doing great ... All types of bad movies, controversies etc etc ....
Amitabh was down and out before this movie with some bad performances and some bad movies. Many among us lost hopes on him but people who knew the capability of Amitabh will never ever write him off.
So is bhootnath a come back for Amitabh. Well, BO will come later but in terms of performance BIG B is back.
Bhootnath is the story of Banku- the son of Juhi Chawla and Shah Laudu Khan who shift to Goa to stay in Nath Villa, A house owned by Amitabh Bachchan before he dies. Amitabh Is Kailash Nath in the movie. He is haunting spirit after his death bcuz of some incomplete rituals that ae followed in Hindu culture after a person's death.
He totally is averse on someone staying in his house which he has a lot of emotional attachment with. Everyone who comes there is scared to run away from there and never to turn and look back.
When Banku and family come to sty there, they come to know about the BHOOT in the house from the locals who they dont believe. Banku is the one to first witness the bhoot where Amitabh tries to scare him away all to his failure. Banku doesnt get scared of the Bhoot as he takes him to be an Angel. Amitabh tries all the tricks to share him away. But one incidents changes him and a friendship developes between Banku and Mr Nath the Bhoot aka Bhootnath.
Banku performs are mystical event in saving his friend who fell into a well. After that the mother comes to know about the Bhoot and just that she trusts banku, Mr Nath appears in front of her and narrates his story of the son-dtr in law and grandson who left him and went away and havent even performed the SHRADHH ritual which is done for the Dead to Attain Moksha.
The Sharma family does it for Bhootnath and his some also comes there realising his mistake, and finally the dissatisfied soul of Kailash Nath is freed, however he returns for Banku ending the film with a TO BE CONTINUED note.
Bhootnath is a good story, actually a very simple story said in a very simple way and that makes this film work. Bhootnath gathers pace from Big B's entry and generates enough funny moments and intersting moments to keep the audience glued to thier seats.
The songs aren't bad either. Love the track Banku Bhaiyya. Baby and Chalo jane do are good to, while Samay ka Pahiya has some good https://lyrics.
Performances. - Its a ONE MAN and ONE KID show. Amitabh Bachchan performs the Bhoot with precision. He is brilliant in every frame and every emotion given to him. This movies simply brings out the range in amitabh bachhcan from a funny, a relented, an angry and a depressed Bhoot. His performance will definitely be talked about as it deserves all the accolades its getting from the critics and audience.
Aman Siddiqui is a revelation. He too has given a great performance. Kids are doing well these days. The Chemistry between Him and Amitabh in the movie is top class.
Juhi is adequate and does well as always. Priyanshu is good in whatever it has been given to him. Rajpal Yadav is funny. SRK is irritating.
Overall - A decent movie, though it coudld have been better. Nevertheless what's important is u dont get bored while watching this.
