I went to see Bhootnath with all intentions of enjoying it as the star cast was almost too good to resist, but I found the movie just passable despite my attempts to enjoy it. The plot started out well but as usual lost steam half way and even though the director and the cast tried their best to save the movie, it lacked brilliance that it could have achieved
The star cast was strained due to the lack of a well written and full script, Juhi Chawla was left to carry the weight of a contrived script whenever the great Mr. Bachhan was not on screen. The saving grace was the chemistry between the little Kid Banku and the Big B alias the Ghost alias Angel, they did make you laugh and beyond their presence everything in the movie was mediocre. The plot and and the detailing in the script was completely missing. The lack of imagination in giving the movie a credible and entertaining ending was a big disappointment. My rating is two and a half stars
I do hope we will make better kids movies in the future, especially the ones that are non animation as I thoroughly enjoyed the Return of Hanuman. The only great children's movie that I remember in Hindi that I enjoyed is Mr. India. Well lets hope we see more like it in the future
