Psst - This section will contain some inside trivia about the film.

Quotes - Good one liners from the movie.

Oops - Goofs From the movie.

Director - Ramgopal Varma

Screenplay - Sameer Sharma & Lalit Marathe

Lets Flashback to 1973. The Exorcist is released which is the mother of all horror movies. Fast forward to 1992, a young film maker, Ramgopal Varma remakes (with a few alterations) The Exorcist as Raat (No Songs). Fast forward to 2003, Ramgopal Varma now makes Bhoot, which is a slightly altered version of Raat. (Again no songs). Couple, Vishal (Ajay Devgan) and Swati (Urmila Matondkar) move in to a 12th floor apartment. The glitch is that the previous occupant Manjeet (Dont know what her name is) has died by jumping from the balcony. Soon Swati starts hallucinating and sees manjeet. Vishal seeks help of a psychiatrist (Victor Banerjee) who has personal problems as his only daugther is in last stage of blood cancer. The story takes a brilliant twist when in hallucinating, Swati kills the building watchman in the most horrendous manner. (You have to see it to believe it). The case is soon investigated by cop Liyaqat Qureshi (Nana Patekar). What seems as a psychological problem is soon found that Swati is actually being possessed by Manjeet's Ghost. Vishal then decides to bring an exorcist (Rekha) on plead of his maid (Seema Biswas). We also have an important cameo of neighbour Sanjay (Fardeen Khan) and manjeet's mother (Tanuja). The first half has its scary moments (I wont tell which becuase I would want you to see the movie to feel it) which is complemented by a cliched second half. Good background score and good overall performance by everyone. Thankfully there are no songs and no comedy secenes (for relief) and this movie aims to be a horror movie and succeeds at it. Please watch the movie in the theatre only or else you will not enjoy it.

Psst -

1) This was Ramgopal Varma's Pet project for many years. His ultimate aim in life was to make a successful no song based horror movie. Although he tried that with Raat way back in 1992, the film was not a hit.

2) Ramgopal Varma did not want any songs in the movie but decided to have a seperate soundtrack for the movie which would be released on Cassetes and CD's only and would not be included in the actual movie.

3) Ramgopal Varma trademark includes steadycam sequences and rainy day scenes.

4) This is Victor Banerjee's first film in 11 years and first hindi film in 20 years. His last released film was bitter moon in 1992 and last hindi film was Doosri Dulhan in 1983.

5) Ajay Devgan is Tanuja's Son in Law.

Quotes

1) ''Qureshi, Liyaqat Qureshi.''
