I dislike Priyadarshan for his inconsistency. It is difficult to believe that the person who made a brilliant Virasaat can also come up with a trash like Garam Masala.

Hence I was a bit hesitant while going for BhoolBhulaiyaa(BB) but being an Akshay Kumar fan, I decided to go for it and was pleasantly surprised by the final product.I've not seen the original Malayalam movie for which Shobna won a national award but it is obviously one of the better hindi movies of Priyadarshan.BB is not for those who want an out an out horror flick or even for those who wants to see Akshay for a long time on the screen.Dont set any expectation and I'm sure you will enjoy the ride.

BB's strength lies in its plot, some superlative performaces by its lead actors and an excellent justification for the entire mess(truely bhool-bhulaiyaa).The movie starts with a newly married couple from abroad(Shiney/Vidya) moving into an old mansion in a village. The villagers(Paresh Rawal and Co) are not happy about their move as they feel the castle is haunted and repeatedly request Shiney/Vidya to stay with them. The couple obviously not interested in their stories turn down their request and start their holiday on a spirited note in that mansion itself. However, creepy things start to happen and soon the entire family gets involved in the whole mess with Shiney/Vidya. Akki makes a half-time entry as Shiney's friend and solves the mess in his entertaining, convincing and effective style.

Some of the spooky scenes are really shot well with low lights and some good camera angle.During the initial stages of the movie, the director successfully created a horror movie plot but as the movie progresses you will slowly but surely start asking questions about the presense of the ghost. One moment I felt that there is surely a supernatural element in the movie and the next moment I was completely assured of a human touch in the proceedings. For me, this see-saw ride was the most enjoyable part of the movie.

Akki as usual is too good and has played his part of a whacky/intelligent psychiatrist to perfection. His comic timing is probably the best in the country right now and he looks very convincing in serious moments of the movie as well.Vidya Balan is simply outstanding here and has made her eyes tell you a lot more than her words. It is good to see her talent being used correctly and is a perfect cast for Avni(Wish could have written a lot more about her!).Shiney looks every inch a PRINCE but was loud in certain scenes to my liking. Amisha looked pretty and played her part nicely; though her charecter didnt have much scope to act.Paresh Rawal is good but Rajpal Yadaav is the funniest out of them all.

Till date, I've not seen any hindi horror/thriller flick with a climax like BB. Dont want to disclose it as it will be a big SPOILER.Watch it and let me know if you agree!

I really like BB and would certainly recommend it to you all.
