One Excellent masterpiece. This is one of the rare movies where the story can be interpreted in two ways. One way is to believe that Avni (Vidya Balan) is possessed by Maunjolikka the dancer's spirit. The other is to assume that she is suffering from multiple personality disorder. The movie has arguments for both. The psychiatrist's explanations and predictions and his ability to solve the problem leaves most of the audience believing in the MCD theory.

But point to the famous dance scene where Avni's eyes change colour, and the scenes where she breaks objects like the clock which seemed quiet impossible to most. This reinforces the possession theory. Probably this is the first Bollywood movie to feature MCD. Highlights of the movie are the scene where Avini  gradually evolves into Maunjolikka and her  changing into this scary dancer, and the Kathak dance sequence. Although the original film Manichitrathazhu made more than 13 years ago, Bhool Bhuliya manages to glue you to the seat in it's own uniqueness.

Cinematography was superb.

Performance: Akshay Kumar handle's his role with such elan and conviction, and his comic timing here is IMO best to date, and he also handles the emotional scenes very well.

Shiney was a dissapointment in this film he overacted in all parts of the film.

Vidya Balan ….So coming to the one quality in this film that keeps you watching to its feel-crude finale is Vidya Balan. As a woman- possessed she pours so much intense energy into her raging Kathak dance in the demented courtesan's domain, you forgive Priyadarshan all his trespasses of vulgar excesses. Vidya brings a great deal of charm elegance and horrific angst to her part. The original actress Shobana won a National Award for her dance and acting.

Paresh Rawal did a brilliant job as usual.  Rajpal Yadav, Rasika Joshi, Asrani all were wasted but still left an impact.  Overall I give it 10 out of 10 for it's plot, story and tremendous performances by Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan.

*Again this film has all the ingredients to be a classic with fantastic story, full of suspense,   and everthing else from psychology, Cinematography, music, an A-star performances from Vidya Balan and Akshay Kumar…the movie is an entertaining watch for those who have not see its earlier versions, including myself.
