Dear MS members, before throwing stones on me for bashing such an acceptable and superhit film,  kindly please note that I never wrote in my sunject DISAPPOINTING but DISAPPOINTMENT, as I knew that Behja Fry is not a disappointing flick like Salaam-e-ishq or  Good boy bad boy etc but after such a hge applause for this film from allover the world, glowing reviews and on top of that the fact that only RS. sixty Lakh film (mind it even my country Pakistan's very small and backward film industry is making average or small budget films from atleast one crore plus and big budgeted films crossed 7 crore budget in recent years)  did more then RS. Eleven crore business and still running strong has made my expectations sky high.

I was also expactin a very tight, crispy and intlligent classic comedy flick like Andaz apna apna after so much appreciation and miracle like success from Bheja Fry because I just loved Rajat Kapoor'sdirected two very beautiful comedies'Raghu Romeo' and'Mixed Doubles', especially mixed doubles that made me laugh really from heart whenever I saw this extremly entertaining comedy.

I was so much anxious for the DVD of Behja Fry as Indian films are banned in Pakistan. Finally two days ago I grabbed BF's DVD and the print was like master with crisp clear picture and sound.

I thought that if Rajat's extremly good works like Raghu Rome and Mixed Doubles were flop, then Bheja Fry must be a class apart as it is a super duper hit film provided that it has made with shoe-string budget with no star. BUT what I got in the end was a sheer and extreme disappointment. Even if Bheja Fry would have been a flop I would not consider it more then a fazool si film and an immaturish hurried attempt. I am still in a state of shock and with bitter taste in my mouth that what actually was in the film that only a sixty lakh minisecule below average film has crossed 11 crore business and still is doing more.

Ok I admit that Veinay Pathak was fit in his role of a simpleton and performed according to the character's psyche, but thats it. The extreme skyhigh praises for Vinay is out of my level of understanding. Also another factor  that iscomedy and  has been high lighted is no where in the film. I laughed only at one scene throughout the film and it was whenever Vinay opens the shopping bag packed with a rope to show his picture album. But overall his whole character was of an irritating person and not of that simple man like a Mr. Bean so the inconsistency between his character's psyche also is heavy on nerves. Moreover the relationship between Sarika and Rajat looks like a rushhed job of the writer with no thought given to it, no matter its a comedy but even for illogical things there must be some logic. At start they behaved like a perfect couple, but then after a few minutes Sarika left home for no such solid reason.

Milind Soman and especially gifted actor Ranvir Shorey were wasted in undeserving roles that could be performed by any extra/junior actor. Rajat Kapoor looked handsome as always and acted well, but the justifications for his behaviour to fool others and his character's psyche looked forced and inconvincing, the director could show some bullying scenes at start to make things convincing, entertaining and comical but he just depicted a small scene of a wanna be singer spitting his saliva in the cup during his bullying on dinner, that was non-comical, boring and flat.

Direction is strictly average, and in those short 1:30 hours the viewer is not fully engaged to the screen and wih the going-ons.

I wonder what made this inconvincing, dull, drab and half baked Bheja Fry that much successful. If it is superhit then why Raghu Romeo and Mixed Doubles that were 1000000000 times better then this flick were flops? Really boxoffice and cinegoers minds and preferences of acceptance cannot be understood even by Newton or some Ian Stien I guess.

Really the super success of this flick is a huge shock and miracle, but an extreme disappointment for me as I was very happy to see this film as I was expacting a superb, crispy, tight, refreshing and clever comedy, but what I actually got was a tight slap on the face of my expactations.
