Beware of Jungle resorts

Ride to Bheemeshwari from Bangalore is quite nice. First take the Kankapura road, and head to towards Muttati, on the way you see signs for cauvery fishing camp. By the way looks like there is route via Muttati, if you take that you end up paying Rs. 50 unncessary to some local guy who is minting money, actually there is a route much earlier than that, which you can take so that you save some time and waste meeting that guy at Muttati asking for Rs. 50/-!.

Now the review.

Bheemeshari is besides the cauvery river. We had stayed at Jungle resorts, thats the only place to stay. We stayed in loghut paid 5000 Rs. for one night recently. Overall for sightseeing this place is quite good, the river is nice and de-stresses you . But be careful of the Jungle resorts people they are nothing more than a cheat. Extrememly poor facility, poor service, and bad food. You would be amazed to think how can things be so bad after paying 5000 rs. for one night stay. The palce reminded me of the Taj Hotels at Nityagram, Hesseraghatta, which is quite similar.

Food at the resort is bad, they cant cook, most people had to throw away their food. They use the same left over food for dinner. Breakfast was better of the lot. Barbeque at night was good, atleast you can eat and fill your stomuch.

You can see deer and some reptiles on the road outside the resort during quite walks or drive, we saw quite a few deers in the forest.

Corale ride was good, which is part of the package. They have something called as Joy fishing!, thats was most amusing, they give you a thread with wheat dough and expect you to catch fish in evenings!, beleive me none could catch a single fish. Fishing as many of you know is best done in early mornings, and preferbly with fishing rod. Not sure why they charge so much for room rent. By the way the place is over crowded on weekends, so it wont be quite and serene,

Log huts are probably best of the lot, they have tents and mud huts but from location perspective log huts are best. They do not provide you with extra towels or extra umbrella, so better to take umbrella's yourself since if it rains they place is difficult. They swtich off water after you take bath, they are in huge saving mood, I am not sure why?

I had very good impression on Jungle resorts but my recent trip to Bhemeshari showed how cheap people can be. Basically in the name of Jungle lodges they want to tell you, ' Hey this is Jungle, so every thing is bare minimum facility, including food, dont crib', but then why are they charging so much.!

When you enter the resort there is one guy who will give you lot of promises, like we will organize fishing trip etc., nothing they do themselves you will have to haggle a lot. There are lot of monkeys, and they get inside your room, incase you keep it open for some reason. And these resort people are of little help, I had a tough challenge when a monkey saw a apple inside the room and entered, and I was scared for my 4 year old.

Moreover as many places in india, they give undue preference to white skinned foreigners, such as giving them special food, or giving them priority in coracle ride, by asking you to share with another family in the same coracle so that 2-3 foriegners can sit and enjoy in a single coracle! Even though you are paying same room rent as these foregners.
