BEST PRICE modern wholesale-A BHARTI(AIRTEL)-WAL-MART JV. ITS FIRST STORE HAS BEEN OPENED IN AMRITSAR(PUNJAB).
SITUATED ABOUT 7-8 KM FROM THE CITY ON ITS OUTSKIRTS, the store location is not very favourable, but being targetted at retailers and not consumers themselves it may just be fine.
A FEW POINTS:
1) u must have a valid pan no. For making a entry pass.
2)u shud have a company vat no. For making the entry pass.
3)this wil make u and 2 other people eligible for entry into the store or shall i say the godown.
Now to the store itself:after entry part:
4)as said before its more lyk a godown than a store/mall.
So dont expect anything lyk megamart/big mazar interiors
5)goods are more for retailers than consumers, as you dont get most of things as in packing of one but in bulk only
.for ex: you cant buy 1 frooti, or 1 appy but a bulk buy of 12 bottle/24 bottles only
.there are a few things which you can buy single pack though .lyk perfumes.
Garments.strationery, chips.
6)one distinct thing ...unlike other stores you can get fresh meat and fish there....
Now rates::
The rates were actually on the lower side. But again the margin was not so much for a consumer may be good enough for a retailer. A 10 rupee cadbury dairy milk for ex: we could get for rs 8..but only in bulk buy and not single piece...though i could get aliva biscuits (frito lay) , for rs10 (m.r.p rs 12).Lykwise rates of most items wee on the lower side but only if you were to bulk buy as being situated so outside the city it wont be worth nor viable to go there everytym.But you may want to go once/twice a month.
Bad points:
Be careful, the logistics were on work when i visited, so it was a bit uncomfortable to shop.Also be careful about your small children, some heavy equipment was on the move for lifting big cartons of material which i really did not appreciate as we got hit once/twice by some equipment which was being moved.
Security was also very weak.
There is a manual and random chek of materials you buy and u may sneak a few things out.But here i would lyk to say being in the city of amritsar wid humble people and new to such malls and stores there is quite less chances of shop lifting. So being visited big bazars and others in other big cities...i was surprized but the security at exit was calm and little carefree.
Points to be noted:Prices were low..But it showed airtel's or bharti's inexperience in running a retail store...It has stil long way to go to match big bazars and vishal megamarts.
