It is very easy to lodge a complaint in the consumer forum. Address your complaint to the District Consumer Disputes Forum. Mention the complaint correctly. Also be specific about the financial loss you incurred and the amount of compensation you wish to recover from the opposite party. If the compensation amount is up to Rs. 1 Lakh, you have to pay Rs. 100/- in the form of DD drawn at any nationalized bank.


If it is upto 25 Lacs, the fee is 200 Rs. etc. You need not engage any lawyer for this. You can plead your own case. Secondly, keep all your evidences ready.


Once you file a complaint you get a date, the judge admits your case and tells that notice will be issued to the opposite party. After that the opposite party receives a notice. They file their objection to it on an affadevite. By that time you have to mention the complaint on an affadevite and submit to the court. Then there is an argument stage wherein the judge and the members hear both the parties. After that there is order stage wherein the final order is issued by the forum.


The whole process is finished before 90 days of complaint. I had a very good experience at Consumer forum Bangalore. Teh Hon. president really did justice to me. I am extremely thankful to Consumer forum Bangalore for their timeliness, perfection to justice.


Recently I won a legal case against Airtel at Consumer forum at Bangalore. I had purchased Airtel Post Paid subscription of Airtel in November 2005. They asked me to pay a security deposit of Rs. 1200/- for STD facility. I paid the deposit. Even after that they did not activate STD facility on my mobile phone. When contacted them several times on their call center, they shocked me by asking for 5000/- Rs.


I frequently requested them to activate the STD facility but they behaved in an irresponsible manner. Also I asked them to immediately cancel the subscription and refund my money. They took more than 2 months to return my own money (only after I approached the consumer forum).


Finally I approached the consumer forum and won the case. I was sanctioned a compensation of Rs. 2000/- by the forum. Also litigation charges of Rs.2000/- were sanctioned in case they delay the payment by one month.


It was a good lesson to Airtel.
