About Bhandardhara:

I have been to Bhandardhara in July 2007. Really friends its a place to visit once nad again in your life time. It's heaven on earth. Explaining beauty of Bhandardhara falls short of words. Undefinable beauty just 3hrs away from mumbai.

*How to get there:

*From Thane: Thane -> Kalyan->Kasara->Igatpuri->Ghoti->Shendi->Bhandardhara. The roads in the mosoon are in a very bad shape after Kasara. It was horrible at Ghoti. Well many people get confused  about the road after Ghoti since its a straight road going towards Nasik. Therefore you should be really careful after Ghoti since there is small right turn just after the toll naka which comes after the railway crossing after Ghoti. You will see a lake at the left hand side of the road just at  that spot there is the right turn to Shendi. The road after that right turn is very narrow so you should really keep your speed low.

*Where to stay in Bhandardhara:

*MTDC is the best choice. They have room from Rs. 600/- facing the lake. Better dont take the rooms on the ground floor since there is no privacy for couples since any body can peep in your room. So couples beware if you get a ground floor room. Else the food and the view are tremendous. If you dont get room at MTDC on week days ask for Parsi Bangalow it's just besides the MTDC. If you want to live luxuriously then there is Anandvan Hotel just opposite MTDC. But doesnt have great lake view. About the rooms in MTDC not maintained to the expectation. The facilities provided like intercom, tv dont work. But who cares the view out side your room is so breath taking that you dont have time for  Tv and so.

*Places to look around in Bhandardhara:

*If you are staying in MTDC you can hire a guide for Rs. 100/-. He shows you around Bhandardhara. Kokan Kada is the greatest spot other spots are, kalsubhai peak on the way to kokan kada, koteshwar mandir which is 1200 years old, Ratan Ghad if you have the guts its a climb of 3 1/2 hrs climb many say that Shivaji has buired all the looted wealth from kalyan in this ghad but you  cant find it. Try your luck!. Wilson lake, Authur lake, Umberlla falls, khanda falls are some other place to visit.
