Bhaag milkha bhaag is inspired from real life story of one of country's sporting legends Milkha Singh.

The movie is directed by Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra, this is an epic story about the life of Milkha Singh. his struggle his survival, his fears and his achievements.

Plot- The story captures the life of Milkha Singh in various phases of his life from 10 years to 30 years.the movie moves in different time lines flashback of his childhood, his metamorphosis and then becoming a legend. The protagonist had a very challenging childhood as he had to leave his birthplace and see  his family die in front  him, later he witnesses torture that his sister had to go and he looses his path to become a pity coal thief and that is pretty much how he reached his puberty. He had no goals, no ambitions, no direction direction when he met Biro(Sonam Kapoor) who brings direction to his life, his first love.In order to become what Biro wantsm a righteous man Milkha joins the army where his running talent is discovered and how he becomes a legendry part of history.

Cast Performance:

The star of the movie is Farhan Akhtar ofcourse who is playing the role of playing the role of Milkha Singh. He has really put in a lot of effort physically as well as mentally but the movie fails his effort, though Milkha singh is a legend and all but personally I cant find anything heroic about him. He failed to perform in all olympics which  by the way is the mecca for any athlete and giving lame excuses of haunting past  as justification is just not acceptable.Farhan Akhtar is such a multi faceted person that to find flaws in him is difficult good singer, good actor and good singer. But then theres a lot of scope for improvement.Though in some scenes he was flawless in a major part of the movie he was quite shaky and nervous .especially the scene where he comes back to pakistan, his house he could have done wonders there but it was not impressive.Though his six pack abs where awesome but acting needed some mending.Film's biggest strength his convincing accent .

Sonam Kapoor She had three to four scenes so one cannot even call it a cameo. Her part mainly consisted of filling water and laughing so theres nothing much to talk about.

Divya Duttastrong text as Milkha's sister Isri kaur is a pleasure to watch. She is one of the finest actor we have. As a role of a docile, repressed homemaker and a doting sister she has overshadowed almost everyone in the cast. She is a delight to watch.

Pawan Malhotra as Milkha Singh's Coach Gurudev Singh is outstanding in his role. The way he carved Milkha was so realistic and touching

Yograj Singh as Indian Coach Ranveer Singh is good. He was especially good in the training session scenes.

Special mention of Master Jabtej Singh as young Milkha is but necessay. He is a good actor and his potential is immense.I loved him in scene where he returns to house after attack and looks for his mother. That brought tears to my eyes.He did such a fine job.

Crew:

I am a fan Rakesh Mehra since Rang de basanti.but this movie is such a disappointment.Making biopic is good and little bit of exaggeration well can be digested but this movie is unforgiveable, scene where the bandages covering Milkha's wounds dramatically come off as he inches towards the finish line is just so hard to digest and don't even get me started on the Gadar-esque finale in Pakistan, where Milkha must fulfill the dream of every Indian by beating a rival from our neighboring nation. Never before has slow motion and background music been so abused in a film!

Music Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy delivers some great tunes, particularly Zinda that is rendered with suitable energy by Siddharth Mahadevan.Apart from that the romantic song that Milkha dreams of was good

Screenplay was snail slow  and lacking great moments that one can take out the movie after an exhausting 3 hrs and 7 min every min seem to kill you more of boredom.Cinematography was good and made the characters look lively.

All in all Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is well intentioned and shines a light on an important figure. But it's too long and too unfocused to leave a lasting impression. There are moments of great pathos here, and an inspiring lesson on the importance of perseverance and hard work punctured routinely by too many songs, overlong romantic tracks, and the kind of'commercial-movie trappings' that are counterproductive to a film of this nature
