Updated: Store is finally closed due to issues between Bharti & Walmart.
Best Price is a large wholesale format mall with B2B sales only permitted. They were a joint venture between Walmart and bharti Retail till they parted ways; Walmart left and Bharti is now struggling to manage it.
They have a few stores and I visited the one at Agra yesterday.
Officially they are permitted to sell only to businesses for further commercial sale and not for retail.
But they get around it by making membership cards(free) for anyone who applies. All that is required is an ID proof and a request on a letterhead.
A low limit of Rs 1000 per bill ensures that wholesale remains in name only.Their personnel are casual and only semi-trained.
Their official security policy is quite stringent, as all things in writing are, but the implementation is sporadic and person specific. One tired uninterested guard stands at the entrance more in name than substance.
The very first sigh of haphazardly parked cars sets the tone of what one finds inside. The stocking seemed quite haphazard to me; if there was a method in the madness, I could not find it.
The huge shelves and rows are only categorized as food, stationery, electronics, utensils etc. The billing counter is a mad rush and sales people themselves quite ill informed.
You are lucky if you find an old hand who can guide you to find what you want.
Go there if you must but you will be better off avoiding a 40 km round trip and buying at Big Bazaar, Easy Day or even you neighborhood Kirana shop.
