Bend it out of proportion. Review on Bend it Like Beckham Movie

Well here I am again...... And this time I am in with a kick!!! sick sense of humor ... get it with a kick , bend it like whoever.

Well let me start my ranting out what this movie is based on and then I will certainly go on to what I think about this movie, believe me I will.

The movie revolves around this Punjabi girl called Jess, who is living with her parents in London. Her family consists of her dad who is a security guard as far as I gathered, her mother is a over powering nagging Housewife, and her elder sister, is a go around type and gets engaged and married through the course of the movie.

The movie basically portrays a girls ambition to become a football player while her mother and her father want her to be as conservative as they are, learn housework and cooking and eventually get married. It shows the trials of Jess as she deals with a orthodox mother, a wicked sister, a open London society, and her constant battle with the Indians settled abroad as she tries to maintain her friendship with a few boys with whom all she wants to do is play football. The story also sheds some light on homosexuality, through a guy, Jess’s friend, who is struggling himself to keep the truth from his family. Its all about a second generation immigrant Indian and her life and its trials and triumphs.

The thing about the movie is that is does show some of the things in real life. The story line is a good one too. But the fact that the story was so badly mishandled kills the very factor that could have made this movie one worth watching.

Though some of the facts like the mother wanting the daughter to learn cooking and stuff are fine, the over nagging and the over emphasis on the drama of following your dreams is terrible. Then one cannot miss the fact that this movie was hyped a lot, and when one goes to see the same, one realizes at the very beginning that all that hype is fake. Personally I came away with a feeling of utter disappointment and disgust. Disappointment was because the movie was bad, and disgust because I WASTED MY CASH!!!!!!!.

So basically don't waste your time and money, stay away from this movie, and listen if some one offers you cash to see this movie then maybe you can think about it. Its like getting paid to sleep for 2 hrs.

On a final note, can anyone tell me where I can go and complain officially about this movie and get a refund as a bonus just by chance????? :)
