Beloved is a true masterpiece, and one of the most important book in the American African literature. This novel deals with the issue of slavery, even though after a century, it is very hard to think and reflect upon slavery by the younger audience, but it still has its victims.
How do we preserve the memory of such a crime, is it right to keep remembering it, should we forget about it and forgive or should we ponder on that situation and think about it.
This is not a simple question which certainly doesn’t have a simple answer, but this novel deals with this issue in a very clever and in a very beautiful way.
In the book many of the characters have a past which involves slavery and how this terrible situation affects the life of those characters in such a haunting and deep way that those perceptions still influence the younger generation.
The book is very well written, beautifully lyrical and the style involves the reader. In the end when you will finish this novel you will appreciate how well the writer has presented the topic and how fortunate we are to live in a free society.
