Its my party and I'll cry if i want to..

I don't call my parties'parties'. They're called'get-togethers' and I think thats probably the best description that any party could have.

Being a college student, I don't have much money to spend on throwing parties. So whenever I want to see my friends, I say come on over, bring your own booze. What do I provide? Two bottles of liquor, the cold drinks to go with whatever anyone else is bringing, chip and dip and plenty of good music.

Now the first thing to remember about being a good host is primarily who you're inviting. I like to call a few old and trusted friends as well as some new people I've been waiting to get to know. The old friends have been briefed earlier about who's new and so they know who to make comfortable, as well as take over some chores such as showing people the way to the bathroom and helping to serve drinks.

During my parties I like to wander around making sure everyone is comfortable and has enough to eat. Also, I put people together if I know they have something in common. For instance I say, 'So and so, meet Prerna. Prerna is an actress. Prerna, So and so is very interested in the theatre.' and bingo! We have a match!

I guess the most important thing to remember in throwing a party is the old eastern adage'He who throws party putteth himself last'. No not Conficu-however you spell his name, just me.
