Both for cynics and romantics. Review on Before Sunrise Movie

Before Sunrise

I watched a re run of this movie in HBO as I had nothing better to do. The following

week I scanned the TV listings first thing in the morning to catch anymore re runs. I had watched the movie thrice at the end of the month. And I got a vcd of the movie. And since its sequel is all set to realease it is high time I wrote this review.

Before Sunrise, starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, is a romantic drama about two strangers who meet, becomes friends and fall in love. All, in one day.

The Story

The story begins in a train journey to Vienna, where Jesse (Hawke) an American, who is to catch a plane to New York the next morning meets Celine (Delpy) , a French woman on her way to Paris. They are attracted to each other and share a comfortable meal on the train.

When the train arrives in Vienna, Jesse asks Celine to spend the day and explore the city with him. Celine agrees and what follows is a beautiful and realistic relationship between the two. They spend the day interacting, talking and falling in love.

But the biggest asset of this movie is its subtle yet powerful ending, where the two promise to meet in Vienna 6 months later. Thus it satisfies both cynics and romantics and leaves the rest to the imagination of its viewers.

Performances

This movie will never be the same if not for Hawke or Delpy. They slip into their characters so easily it doesn?t feel artificial or forced. Hawke, especially when he resists trying to brush her hair out of her eyes, gives what may be his most loved performance.

Watch this movie if ur a romantic or planning to visit Vienna anytime.
