I've finally gotten around to investing in non-toxic lipsticks and getting rid of my "conventional" lipsticks(see some of my other reviews for more).
I was really happy to see that BWC had magenta and fuschia colors. These are very hard to find in the natural cosmetics world! Usually what's offered are various dull shades of pinks, browns, and a red or two.
I tried out two colors - Azalea and Blueberry Coulis, which I bought on sale for$13.99 each from an online store called Wild Earth Market. I am pleasantly surprised by the consistency of each lipstick - they glide on really easily and color coverage is strong.
Azalea is a bright magenta. It would be a perfect springtime, garden party pink. It's quite saturated. I think it suited my skintone and would probably be flattering on people both darker and lighter than me. Azalea is not pastel - it is very bright.
Blueberry Coulis was my favorite, though. Blueberry Coulis is a fuschia color, ever so slightly more purple than Azalea. This is just a really flattering color on my skintone and I could see wearing it year round. I feel like this color will work for me from now(late winter) into spring and maybe for summer too. It's versatile, bright, and cheerful. Since it's fuschia it's a bit dramatic though and doesn't have the same "garden party pink" look of Azalea(but it wouldn't be out of place at a garden party either). The color is a bit lighter and brighter than it appears in the tube.
ETA: I think I am going to give this product just 3 lippies rather than 5 because of two issues.
The consistency of both lipsticks is slightly frosty. I prefer a totally matte look. These colors also stain my lips at all. I like having a bit of a stain so that as the color wears off through the night, I still have some pigment to brighten up my complexion.
I am also unsure about the potential toxicity of these lipsticks. EWG's SkinDeep database and Good Guide give wildly opposite ratings on the safety of these lipsticks, which leaves me pretty confused about what to think
