I got my house painted last year from Asian Paints Home Solutions. I did know that I will be spending little extra. Still I engaged APHS for the job with a hope that I will get ‘Quality’ & ‘Hassle free Painting Experience’ through APHS Professional Service’. However, they proved me wrong. It was a very bad experience.
As regards time, in all fairness, they did the job fairly in time. Got delayed only by a couple of days; that too because of lack of coordination amongst the team members.
Regarding ‘Quality’, initially I thought I got the quality. But after one year I discovered that the covered portion(such as behind wall hangings, furniture) of wall paint is getting yellowish. With the result I am unable to make alterations in furniture arrangement. The company’s technical person is of the opinion that this is a matter of discoloration and it might be due oil based Luster. It’s completely unconvincing. Earlier I had the same oil based luster and it lasted for more than 10 years without any discoloration.
Regarding neatness on the job, despite the fact that they make use of modern techniques & tools the end result is quite ordinary.(Colour) marks were observed on walls, switch boards, door hardware, windows and on lot many other places where they were not supposed to be. They are still there making the whole thing look very shabby. See attached photographs.
Last but not least-the professionalism-it was completely missing. The so called RA, Relationship Associate as they call him, is the key person in the whole show. Irony is that he is the most unprofessional professional who is believed to shoulder the entire responsibility of this show. In the first place these RAs don't have any time sense. I have dealt with at least 2 of them. 2-3 hours delay in making an appointment is quite common. Sometimes at the end of the day he might call you and tell you to postpone the appointment for the next day.
They are supposed to guide you in selection of paint & colour. But they have very little technical knowledge and anesthetic sense. They are expected to coordinate with the client & the applicator. However, in reality you need to coordinate between RA & the applicator. It is believed that they will supervise the work on regular basis. But instead you need to do their job. They will visit, may be, only once or twice. In short you can’t escape from the usual hassles you normally face while getting the things done from local guys.
Their applicators(said to be well trained) are no better than any other ordinary painter. Initially they appear to be quite promising; Do their job quite patiently. But as the time passes they try to hurry up the process and start taking short cuts and wrap up the things. They avoid use of masking tape(its time taking & expensive). This is the time when you expect RA to interfere. But he won't appear. He will give many excuses.
At the end of the day you have to live with many unresolved issues/defects as they raise their hands saying that nothing can be done at this stage. Certainly this is not expected from a Company like Asian Paints. Overall it was a complete disappointment.
Though they claim that their applicators are quite trained and will take care of anything & everything sometimes they do damage to the household furniture/appliances too.
As far as pricing is concerned, as claimed by the Company. it is quite a transparent process. The costs overall are reasonable. But they need to to improve on service which is too bad.
