http://www.beamcablesystems.com Beam cable provides internet service to Hyderabad which is where I am using it. For unlimited packages, the speeds are low. I used them for a while thinking that it is worth since I leave my PC on all day. But the speeds are really low even for packages worth Rs.600 a month. So on the suggestion of their sales rep, I shifted to a limited package , for the same monthly bill (Rs.600) for a promised higher speeds. Change over was a mess, and I spent equal amount on cell phone bills calling those idiots up daily twice or thrice or more.
After a couple of months things seemed to settle down, except that the internet goes down at any time of the day, and wont come back for an hour or so. I used to call them whenver it went down, but now, unless it goes off for atleast 4 hours, I dont call. I reason why I am still with them is that I am moving soon, and it doesnt make any sense to change ISP now.
To be fair, their customer service calls you back in 24 hrs usually, and even makes a visit if you really complain a lot. But the real trouble is their service blanks out in the middle of the day lots of times. So, unless you are an occasional user, dont go for it. Whenever you are in the middle of something, your page disappers, and "server cannot be found" message gets flashed. It doesnt matter that it is up in an hour or so. It is hugely irritating to say the least.
