Firstly, my apologies for being so very late to watch my most awaited movie of the year. Got that out, now my conscience is clean.:)
The Bat: A nocturnal creature that uses the extended skin membrane between its limbs to fly. Well, that speaks everything about a bat. Well, almost.The bat is not the most beautiful of animals created by God. It doesn't have the strength in the limbs as its mammal counterparts. It neither matches its flying counterparts, the birds in anyway. Its a hideous devil eyed creature. Well, what the bat lacks in beauty, strength and brains, it makes it up in commitment and determination. A commitment to strive, a determination to survive.
Did it never occur, why Bob Kane chose such a hideous creature to portray a superhero? Not just because Batman operates in the dark of the night, but just like a bat, he isn't a gifted super hero. What he lacks in superpowers, he has to make up with ordinary human abilities.
Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight is an ordinary man like any of us. A man who is unwilling to forget his painful past, a lost girl and catching age. But what makes an ordinary man a super hero is not his superpowers or all the guns and gizmos. But its the ability to stand up and face your biggest fears. Its your determination to stand for what you believe. That's what almost every super hero movie tells you. These are the super powers which we all possess, yet struggle everyday over petty things. Time to awaken the Dark Knight within all of us.
The direction and screenplay are top notch and gripping. Cinematography is excellent and a haunting background score. Christian Bale was the perfect batman, Anne Hatheway and Maria Cortilla, beautiful as always. I'm not dwelling much on the plot or other aspects of the film, as it has been quite sometime, the movie is out and has already scored majorly. But it would be a cardinal sin if I don't mention the magnanimity of the climax. It was brilliant and sheer intelligent.
Its sad that the series is ending, but happy that it has ended on an all time high, one which no other superhero film ever has been able to reach. The true essence of the Batman series has been always about determination and fearlessness. This film carries the theme all the way to the end.
I am not technically competent to speak about the film making procedure nor about the people who made this. But I would like to thank all the technicians for bringing out the true Batman film of all time. Christopher Nolan, take a bow.
