Every Month on the Evening of 7th, My brother would be nice to me & come down to pick me up from my Office, to take me home. We used to go & come back together in the early day of our careers to our respective offices. He used to be patiently wait in the lobby, chat happily with my receptionist, colleagues, in spite of his hate for waiting.
He used to drive me back, the long way back telling me things about his day at office, asking about mine. At last, when we drive down the long stretch of BHills Road No. 1, He used be very enthusiastic. The reason was because we were nearing Baskin Robbins(BR). Ever since I had introduced him to BR after my return from Cochin, we made a Deal, BR at least once a Month & we fixed my salary date as our rendezvous with BR every month. Above all it was the closest to my home.
There's nothing comfortable cool thing as like ice cream. Its cold, melts, creamy, sweet & lingers. Oooohh. Some one is getting Ideas...LoL & I love it any time of the season, summer, rainy or winter. I fell in love with this icecream when I first laid my eyes on this small new Ice Cream parlor in Cochin on my way back from a first show movie.
The look of the parlour, which portrays soft lighting, warm colors & fun-filled wallpaper, promises a whole new fun-filled & exciting experience for everyone who walks in. "baskin 13 1R robbins", the Logo attracted me into the parlor. Before BR, the only flavor I knew Were Taj, Dollops, Dinshaws..etc. I was awestruck for the first time to see a Ice Cream parlor worth the sight, esp with all the ice-cream flavors in a visible freezer...for Drooling over them. & Of course the open invitation "Ask for Free Taste", where we can sample flavors until the right one is found worth the one we wanted to buy..
Ah they have this iconic small pink spoon for sampling. I hesitated but gathered enough courage to ask one. What was one ... Freebies best thing about BR is that they let you taste their ware - & good thing too, because you want to be sure before burning a hole. in your pockets for them? But in all fairness, they have rather delightful innovative flavors, a concoction of chocolate, nuts & fruits.
But what is it? Prices...I wanted to turn around & walk out when I saw the pricing...About Turn...As I was turning, something caught my attention... "If Our Prices are High Try our Competitors" Never Did I ever go to the competitors again. This is what I read at the billing counters. That made me freeze like the Ice-cream. What an Insult? I am a Saggi & Stubborn & was Heady young Angry man, decided to give in....What a Given In... I have loved BR since then...Now I have a Whole lot of BR Fans in form of my own family, cousins, friends, & colleagues etc who enjoy sharing my love of ice cream. Ice Cream has to be BR.
The BHills Branch changed its location many a times. Now It is located on the Road No, 1, directly across from the Care Hospital & gives a wonderful view of the busy street down if one is on the first floor. Most time I go the outlet late nights so, I order it from the car or order Carry Home pack, but which ever way, it makes me lingering over a sundae or banana split is a relaxing way. The previous branch of BR was roomy, relaxed, has gossipy magazines to help kill time, & even a tiny garden outside.
BR is known for its "31 flavors" slogan - "Count the Flavors. Where flavor counts.". I used to always think, it was all about One Flavor One Day. The flavors, 31 flavors offered are both diverse & traditional; BR continues the fun to its customers by delivering unique flavors such as, Orange Tango, Banana Strawberry, & Litchi Gold Swirl. They also have a Polar Pizza Ice Cream. My Favorite Used to be the Honey Nut Crunch. The ice cream made by BR is far & away the most high quality available in India by local brands are watery & tasteless.
They have this Flavor of the Month concept which brings to its customers; a unique flavor every month. Top this flavor or any of its flavors with exciting toppings of Hot Chocolate Fudge, Pineapple Sauce or Strawberry Toppings to get that out of the world experience. This magical experience only doubles with their unique products such as Banana Split, Sundaes, Shakes & Tangos & the yummiest freshly made Waffle Cones dipped in Chocolate!
Baskin-Robbins is a global chain of ice cream parlors founded by Burt Baskin & Irv Robbins(Brother-In-Laws) in 1945 in Glendale, California & was also the first to introduce ice cream cakes. Though Ice Creams cannot be counted as part of a healthy diet (& especially for people like me Believe me . I have fewer teeth left) I’d not recommend anyone to indulge in these delicacies but they should try them out at least once.
