I speak from a Canadian point of view when I give my opinion on the sport of baseball. The game has been around for over a century and has excelled with just as many teams playing a whole bunch of years ago. Yet my disgruntledness arrived in the mid 1990s.
The Strike Season
A strike occurs when there is a conflict between two parties. When two parties can not agree on a term or contract, actions are seized. In this case, the baseball season was seized and because there are no other sports to take its place during that time frame during the year with hockey, basketball and football all taking place in the winter .... it really disappointed all around sports fans like myself.
I only liked baseball a little bit, so the strike was a great clincher to help me realize that sport sucks in and of itself!
Why Does it Suck?
There are just too many games in a year that take too long. A season consists of 162 games, of which the first 100 mean nothing. Each game takes around 3 hours. Movement of all players is rare as most of the play is done by the pitcher and the batter.
The gameplay is too slow. It's very hard to sit at your television and watch everything freeze and the same monotonous actions being done. Even sitting in the stadium -- the real thing -- can be quite boring. I have actually left a game just a bit pass the midway point.
Salaries
I don't understand why a player needs to be paid $25 million a year to hit a ball with a piece of wood. Its a joke! They hit a bloody ball! The stupidity behind this is that we are all paying to watch such trash so that these players can buy a 2002 BMW and get the next years version again and again, until they retire at 38 and live a long prosperous life.
Heck, if you want, I will hit a ball for $100,000 for 6 straight hours if you want. Its all a talent contest and the top talent men get huge amounts of money. What a bunch of BS!
Overall Thoughts
The game is extremely easy to learn yet from all these aspects, I can't really get into baseball anymore. Skyrocketing salaries, interuptions for fans because of money, slow paced ''I dont really care, as long as I get paid'' games .... give me a f'ing break!
