My Current Review

Phew! Tracking down this album was hell, but following Musicmania's clue, I managed to get it at a store near Golcha Cinema. And boy, was it worth the running around. It's even better than I had expected it to be.

The title track, Barson Huey, is the kind that takes you to another world. A beautiful tune (I have been humming it ever since I heard it), touching words and lovely music - the kind that keeps your foot tapping and your body grooving.

The great thing about this album is the paisa wasool factor. All ten tracks are brilliant. It's hard to choose a ''favourite''. For now, mine is Barson Huey obviously, but every track has the potential of making it to the ''favourite'' position. In particular, there's this song Palkon Pe Tha and another one called Sapno Ka Ek Shahar, these are really, really good compositions. And for those who love the Latino touch, Zindagi is a fascinating piece, great melody and gutsy guitar-work. Also, the percussion elements are very well-handled across the entire album.

Verdict: Must Buy! (If you can find it!)

My Earlier Review Dated 5th January 2006

Hey! It always feels great to discover a new band/group/artiste to add to your collection, especially when it happens by sheer chance! I just read this review by ''Musicmania'' on Mouthshut a while ago - visited the website and downloaded the first three songs - and Wow! The first song (which is also name of the album) is really groovy and foot-tapping. It is also very unusual than what you may hear in Indipop nowadays. The second song is more standard but still nice because it has very hum-able tune and attractive chorus/refrain.

All three songs are soft, mellow and very acoustic. The voices are refreshing. There is lots of good news for wood guitar freaks - check this sound out. Especially, third song is one piece called Palko pe The, which is very Spanish and lilting.

I also clicked on lyrics pages and found very good quality of songwriting there. The lyrics of the above song that I mentioned are by Chandrani, who has also sang the song.

I am definitely buying this album!
