I hold a Barclay card and I have to say that the service of Barclay Card is the worst ever I have come across. I would like to highlight an incident which happened to me during July.
As usual, I recieved my statement for July on time and my due date for payment is 23rd of every month. I made a payment of some amount against the total outstanding amount on the 15th of July. After making the payment, I anticipated that the amount would have been credited to my account. But I got a call on the 25th of July from the Collections team in Mumbai (two days after my due date), that no payment has been made from my side.
It came as a surprise to me as I have never defaulted for any of the credit cards I have used till date. When I explained them that I already made a payment 8-10 days before my due date, they checked and informed me that my cheque went invalid due to some reasons (even they are not sure of the reasons). Hence I made a payment again on the 26th of the same month. Just like other cards, I expect Barclay card to inform its customers about such situation at least through sms and give them another option of payment within the due date. (I am saying this because if Barclay card is providing so much attention to its customers that everyday I get one call or the other from your Noida office for converting the card to EMI or from any other dept of yours to buy a health insurance and several smses in a week regarding new offers, this is the minimum I can expect that Barclaycard will inform payment related matters to customers through sms).
After this, I spoke to the customer care and explained them about the situation and the lady with whom I spoke to said she has taken my request and there would be no late payment in the next billing cycle. But I was surprised to see that a late payment fee of Rs 600 has been charged to me (for something which I think I am not responsible for). However, after that, its almost a month and a half since I have been asking customer care people many times to return me my cheque so that I know what was the reason that it went invalid.
Even after several requests, neither I have recieved my cheque nor I have heard from barclay card in this regard. I feel cheated and fooled by Barclay. I will not make any late payment charges untill I get my cheque back. I am also dissapointed to tell regarding the rude behaviour of their customer care representatives. Rather than listening to our queries, many times they disconnect the phone. I regret to say that I will never recommend Barclay card to anyone in future
