I have been working at Bank Bazaar less than a year


Pros


Only the seniors get to enjoy it


No proper rules so you don't know when you are screwed


Makes you think seriously about career as you are drilled every second


Cons


Be ready to just write, write and write but get no value for writing. In short you write content on key words(for example: Bangalore car loan 2014) provided by the SEO team to generate traffic.


You will not be writing quality insightful articles. So won’t be suited for somebody who writes for satisfaction or to show creativity in most cases or even their writing skills. The company is only hiring more writers and more SEO analysts and the vicious cycle continues. So your work will not speak for you. This means you are just one among the herd.


As there is no proper QC strategy, the older writers tend to exploit the new writers by burdening them with work and trying to show upmanship over others.


There is no fair mechanism as to judge a content, nor is there a QC system in place to judge the work. This brings in scope for discrepancy and seniors just criticize work to show their upmanship. In short, they were OK with my work for a month and then suddenly termed it as sub-standard and poor. Sounds odd, as to how could someone forget to write or decrease their quality after a month, and continue the same putting one’s own job in jeopardy.


SEO team has the final say on your content and just reject it blindly, sometimes even after the seniors have done the QC. This sounds bizarre. Not understanding that content and SEO should coordinate and sometimes SEO should adjust to understand the importance of quality content.


In short SEO associates can just keep on giving keywords if they are not getting the traffic, while content writers are screwed like hell.


There is no transparency in the work carried out by these older writers. They go out for long lunch breaks, do not maintain a tracker of their written work and pass on their bundle of work to newer writers. In the name of reviewing SEO spun articles, they while away their time. It will hardly take 5 minutes to review one SEO spun article of 1000 words.


I have worked in almost all types of content writing profession from ad agencies to business content to SEO content and other companies but have never faced such humiliating experience. In fact, nothing has happened till date. How is that possible? I have not performed well, and till date nothing has happened, no final action. However, every meeting, I am just screwed like hell.


This is just more proof. Someone with 13 years of experience hired for the post of Content Head is reporting to people half his experience. For a change the 13 years’ experience writer might not be good but how can someone cheat himself with 13 years writing. Writers will know what I am talking. If he is not capable, why have him in the first place. You can as well hire more writers to write, not hire someone as content head and then make him write content. Another writer with 6 years’ experience is writing content without any supervision. Agreed the 6 years writer might be doing a good job, but is this the way things should function?


However if this grievance makes some sense, it is needless to say, I need not prove my writing abilities any further.


They try to blow up minor mistakes and omissions out of proportion and take it to senior management. It has happened with writers before me and is happening to me.


HR team is just to hire, they absolutely don’t even have an iota of concern towards the employees. If the senior management takes a decision, they just blindly follow that fearing the seniors and don’t even mediate between the employees and seniors to create a harmonious environment, take a fair judgment.


In fact, there have been cases where bankbazaar employees themselves have not got calls for credit cards, loans, in spite of being eligible.


Advice to Management


It simply doesn't make sense, if senior management is not knowing what is happening with the company, still confused hire third party as anonymous employees for spying and see what is happening in the team. Your friends are not doing a good job in the senior posts.


Please book profit or find someone to fund for next few years and pay us our salaries till we get better jobs.
