B'lore Traffic police suck!!
May 15, 2008 08:08 PM 4580 Views

My very first entrance into Bangalore was greeted by a group of villain looking policement, who were on a stopping spree of all 4 vehicles.  They were checking the papers and when I had submitted all the documents, they asked for a pollution certificate.  I drive a Honda City, which is non-polluting vehicle and only 21 months old.

The senior cop there, Mr. MuniKrishna, insisted that I should have a pollution certificate for a vehicle which was over 1 year old.

ISN'T THAT A CRAP?  When there are so many big trucks and public transport system and rickshaws which ply the road, emitting so much smoke?

I showed the sticker on the car, which says NON-POLLUTING VEHICLE, CONFORMING TO THE CMVR STANDARDS.   He read and asked me what CMVR stood for, I didn't know.  He sarcastically said, if you don't even know that, how can you say it's a non-polluting vehicle.

He made a mockery of the company's brand and their statement?

I could have very well put the question back on him(and I'm sure he wouldn't have a clue as to what it means, either) and said, without knowing that how could he say mine was a polluting vehicle.  He would have been terribly embarrased.

By that time, I had driven nearly 14-15 hours from Lonavala(near Mumbai), and was dying to reach my destination, which was less than 5 kms away at that point.

So paid the fine.

IS THIS THE WAY BANGALORE TRAFFIC COPS ARE?  IF SO, THE CITY SUCKS MAN!

Some of these cops looked like an hungry dog!
