The answer may be YES.I am here in Bangalore since last almost 4 years. I knwo kannada to an extent that I can manage small talks. But I still havent mastered that language.I was fined first time when I was a student and was riding my CBZ. The reason for fine was - air pressure of the front wheel was not enough. No .. no, , , dont laugh. It really happend.
I had to pay the bribe (Not fine, because the cop was in no mood to take fine) because he had my bike key with him. There after I paid many fines and I learned a trick - since I am outsider and donno the local language - I do not prolong these matters any frther. Settle it down on spot with bribe. Why bribe?
Because I dont want to get into legal technicalities. By the way - everythime they fail to communicate with me in Hindi (Which Bangalore cops hardly knwo) or English - they emphasise on Kannada. I dont knwo Kannada as locals. And everytime I get to hear one thing - which me and all my other friends getting used to, is - "You north Indians have spoiled this city" and things like that. I agree - it may be true that if I go to other states - I may get to here these things more than what I hear here. But that do not justify Bangalore Traffic Police behaviour. Not only North Indians. Nay one who is not from south Karnataka face the same. Even people from Nort Karnataka say same.
