Yes the traffic police in Bangalore are notorious, but who is responsible for it. If a person follows the law he need not be afraid of anybody. Every individual must be on the right side of the law but this is never the case. How many two wheeler drivers drive without a licence and proper papers. When a traffic cop stops them, the only thing these law breakers know is to reach for their wallets and slip a 50 or 100 bucks to the cop. A cop whose appetite is whetted by such people is always on the look out for more easy money. I have seen educated illiterates in 4 wheelers who jump the signal, violate the law and feel slipping in money to the traffic cop is something great.
As a result of such acts the law has literally gone to the dogs. I think every individual must follow the law and should not allow oneself to be exploited by the cops. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Escalate the problem to the highest police official and expose corrupt officials through the media. It is people who finally make the difference. Everything matters no matter how small. We can make a beginning somewhere. The shade that we enjoy of the huge tree is the vision and the effort of one man many years ago who took the trouble to sow the seed without selfish interest. We need to look beyond ourselves.
