New Horizon Admission Process - Scam. Review on Bangalore Public School, Bangalore

If you have got through NHPS admission(for 2011-12) without much hassle, be happy. You are the lucky few. Feel good about it. Others, read on.

For those of you who are yet to get the fees paid, don't be assured of a seat yet, even when you get the call saying that your kid has been selected and you being called for a discussion. You can be assured of the seat, if you don't mind the shelling out the extra cash that the school asks for.

I and quite a few others whom I know(and whom I got to know in the process), have gone through a horrible experience. I thought everyone who is expecting a seat in New Horizon needs to be aware of this.

We were given a call saying that our kid is selected and asked to meet the admission officer. When you go there, your kid goes to "waiting list 2" and is not in the “selected list”. And if you debate on why the call was made and insist in checking the list again, you are told that these are the last few seats available and asked quickly if you will be able to complete the formalities by the next day. If you say yes, you will be asked to shell out 1.5 Lakhs(in cash) on top of the 100+ K(read it as 1 Lakh and more) annual regular fees. Not sure if the extra amount being collected goes to the admission officer or the school or both. Looks like last year it was computers for which you will have to pay a vendor and this year it’s only cash!

What a waste of time. I feel so disgusted that they just take people and their time for granted. Atrocious!

New Horizon(Gurukul and Public School) don’t have the fee structure published anywhere – in their Website or the prospectus. Just having the parents stand in line, creating a scene as if it is first come first served, taking a toll on the kid by making them wait and have them attend interviews and then to ask for atrocious amount of money by cash, is a scam to be probed for sure. Scam! Scam! Scam! If at all there is an award for the “The Best Nursery Admission Scamster Award” it should go in for New Horizon Public School!

And, please don't think I am writing this just because I have not been given a seat. I am not running a school competing NHPS and therefore have no reason to do so. I just feel so bad for so many people who have been taken for a ride along with their kids. Until there are people out there to pay that extra buck, there will be people accepting it like New Horizon.

If you get a call that your kid is selected, just ask them straight away if they have to shell anything extra. Based on the answer you get, you can decide your next course of action. I see more such bad experiences(demanding extra cash, donation, computers, etc.) from the same school, in mouthshut.com. Wish I had seen all of that before wasting these many hours of my life.

Where is this world heading, I wonder.
