Movies are one of the modes of entertainment, which are made with only one intention that is to entertain people. But we also know the fact that not every movie succeeds in entertaining as the taste of people differs. At times people judge the movies with the star cast, which propels them to write positive reviews to show their loyalty towards their favourite actor or production house.

Twentieth Century Fox has come up with another Hindi movie "Bang Bang', which is inspired by Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz starrer'Knight & Day'. The responsibility of direction has been handed over to Siddhartha Anand who has so far directed only romantic films(Salaam Namaste and Anjaana Anjaani). Big production house, successful actor and excellent marketing prior to the release of the film is certainly going to pull the crowds to the theatres. But does the movie succeeds in entertaining?

The movie starts with Jimmy Shegill going to UK to bring back most wanted criminal Danny Denzongpa but is killed. Indian government is going to sign the extradition treaty with the UK, which Danny wants to stop & according to him if someone steals the Kohinoor diamond from UK, this can create obstacles in going ahead with the treaty.

Kohinoor gets stolen by none other than Hrithik Roshan & now the government officials & the criminals are behind him. What happens next? Who gets the Kohinoor? Indian government? UK government? The criminals? Or does Hrithik has something else in mind?

True the movie is inspired from'Knight & Day' but it still required the backbone, which is known as story followed by a rock solid screenplay, which is missing in the case of'Bang Bang'. As a result the remake sets an example of a movie that is slickly made & is packed with style from the word go but has no substance due to the loopholes in writing. Pay attention to the telephone conversation between Jimmy Shergill & his mother in the beginning, you will know a lot about what might happen next.

There are four songs in the movie, which are stylishly picturized and due to the foot tapping music & extraordinary dancing skills of Hrithik, they become extremely watchable while they appear on the screen.

Dialogues are simple. Photography is very good, which was required as style has been given preference over substance.

Performance wise Pawan Malhotra once again delivers a solid performance. Vikram Gokhale is just ok. Kanwaljeet Singh & Dipti Naval in small roles are ok as well. Javed Jaffery does well as the right hand of Danny. Jimmy Shergill in a very small role leave an impact. Surely would like to see him more on screen.

The character of Danny is not well developed hence his presence on screen is not as big as one would expect but he does well. Katrina Kaif is just what we have been seeing her since years smile, look pretty, dance and in between all these also make an attempt to act.

Can't blame the production house as they have spent more than enough money in producing the movie but are unfortunately let down by the script.

Director Siddhartha Anand whose earlier two romantic films were also inspired by Hollywood films, has this time taken the responsibility of directing a thriller but has  still tried to incorporate enough dose of romance in the film, which acts as a speed breaker. Why didn't he pay more attention to the script? Had he has done that the movie would have been better than what it has turned out to be. I would give him 7 out of 10.

At times the movies are not up the raised expectations but the presence & performance of the actor is such that it does succeed in hiding some of the loopholes. Hrithik Roshan delivers one such performance where he takes the movie to next level. Be it dance, action scenes or breathing fire through eyes, he excels in everything. With this performance the movie might become favourite of the masses, which is the category that decides the fate of any movie at box office.

Watch it only for Hrithik Roshan's committment to his work. My rating 3.5 out of 5 stars.(1 star increased exclusively due to Hrithik's performance).
