Fox Star Studios’ Bang Bang directed by Siddharth Anand has garnered a sensational hype ever since the trailer was released. To add to the glory, the pairing of  superstars Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif has raised the hotness meter to the pinnacle. The music always plays a prominent role in a film’s opening prospects and one expects the music of Bang Bang to be one more feather in the already crowded cap of the movie. As always, hit composers Vishal Shekhar handle the music of this Siddharth Anand venture and we expect a few blazing tunes appropriate to the title of the movie.

Tu Meri  kick starts the proceedings, a number crooned and penned by Vishal Dadlani. Right from the beginning, one can smell a party anthem with lots of beats and bass and the upbeat tempo is maintained throughout the run time of the song which makes it an enticing proposition.Vishal Dadlani is the right man for such a track and he infuses just the right amount of energy and verve to make it a chartbusting beginning to the album. There is a feel good vibe in the song, which makes it hard not to like the infectious rhythm of the tune. A two minute video of the track is out and the lead pair’s sizzling chemistry is there to be seen. Coupled with Hrithik’s splendid dance moves, this one will be one huge hit.

After the rollicking beginning, we now have a more sedate romantic track Meherbaan sung by Ash King and Shilpa Rao with supporting vocals of Shekhar Ravijiani. The composers infuse a sufiyana touch to the music and keep the proceedings simple, thus ensuring the focus remains more on the appreciable lyrics of Anvita Dutt Guptan and the vocals of the singers. One does feel that the male portions of the song commanded a more powerful voice than of Ash King’s. Shilpa Rao is commendable and her husky tone really suits the track, but a better choice of her partner could have delivered superior results. Nevertheless, it is still an appealing ditty which you can play with fond memories of the one you love. Coming to the video, this song is shot in the exotic locales of Greece and it would be a complete treat to watch the hot pair romance on the big screen.

The third track in the album is Uff rendered by Harshdeep Kaur and Benny Dayal. This one again has lyrics by Anvita Dutt Guptan and the music is again up tempo and very lively. The background music is typical Vishal Shekhar and the intelligent incorporation of strings and beats create an enjoyable mood. It is refreshing to see Harshdeep attempt something different and she excels here with free flowing vocals and the song belongs to her. Benny Dayal gives able support too, though he does not have a substantial part. Credit to the composers here for creating a youthful track which is instantly likeable and this one is surely a top song. Watch out for it in the coming days.

Benny Dayal and Neeti Mohan team up for  Bang Bang-the title track. As soon as the music starts playing, one gets a feeling of 80’s kind of pop music made immortal by Michael Jackson. The song was touted to be the year’s biggest part anthem, but looked at purely from a music point of view, one does not feel so though the composition is extremely peppy. Benny Dayal is a master of such tracks and he does an excellent job here and Neeti Mohan is adorable with her sensual rendition. A short video of the song is out and if it is any indication, then yes, this track will indeed be a big party anthem what with the breathtaking dance of Hrithik Roshan charming one and all. In a way, the composers have ensured that Hrithik gets a perfect platform to showcase his scintillating dance abilities and this is enough to lure hordes of people to the theatres.

Rating:3/5

There is a reprise version of Meherbaan at the end of the soundtrack and it is a welcome song. The composers give it an unplugged treatment, retaining just a few guitar riffs. Shekhar Ravijiani goes solo and makes it a good culmination to the album. In fact, he would have been a better choice for the original version too. This track might be used sparingly in a few crucial junctures of the movie.

Rating:3.5/5

Well, a film of the scale of Bang Bang required a soundtrack just like this and the composers have ensured that they deliver just that. The music is not something very memorable, but it fits perfectly to the theme of this action-romance extravaganza. All the tracks have the potential to be top chartbusters and their popularity will only increase once the film releases. The scorching pairing of Hrithik-Katrina will ensure more eyeballs on the music and it is a positive sign. On the whole, nothing great but music which is true to the setting of the film!
