Bandini:Journey of a Woman. Review on Bandini

Today is Women's day & on this day I want to tell you guys about this amazing movie named Bandini a women oriented movie. Bandini was released in 1963, directed by the legend director Bimal Roy & considered as one of the most classical movies of Bimal Roy.

Bandini is a story of kalyani a village girl. story starts with kalyani is in jail for committing  the crime of murder but because of her nice behaviour she will be released in a few days quite before the completion of her punishment. Deven is in love with her & wants to marry her but her mother is not ready to let her son to marry a criminal then deven gave her mother a diary which contains the story of Kalyani.

Kalyani was  a small village girl living with her father & brother, suddenly her life changes with the entry of vikas in her life, vikas is a freedom fighter. with the time they both fall in love with each other. one night due to some health problems vikas spends the night at her house and leaves the village next morning  due to his work. But life is not so easy for kalyani now, villagers come to know that vikas has spent a night at her home, they starts questioning her character.still kalyani waits for vikas but he never comes . one day she gets a letter from vikas which states that he can't marry him as he is going to marry another girl.

Hurt kalyani leaves the village & came to town to save her family from any problems which could arise due to her. She gets the job of a nurse and starts working there with full honesty. one day doctor says her to take care of a new female patient . that patient is very unpredictable, she used to throw the things on everyone, used to scream at everyone without any reason & quite short tempered. But Kalyani cares her very well. One day her(patient) husband comes to meet her & kalyani gets shock to know that her(Patient) husband is none other than Vikas. Then she comes to know that her father is died. Kalyani gets puzzled in these situations which shaked her life suddenly, she can't think what to do & then she takes a decision which was not right. she gaves her(Patient) poison. When Vikas comes to know that kalyani did this he tries to defend her but she commits in front of everyone that she killed him.

After reading full story of Kalyani Deven's mother agrees for her son's marriage with kalyani. when kalyani releases from jail she has to leave for deven's home via train. train was late so she waits in waiting room where she suddenly hears vikas's voice. she stands instantly to see him. she comes to know that vikas did that marriage in deep pressure because this marriage was somehow beneficial for their freedom fighting activities. she also comes to know that vikas is really ill & need someone who could take care him very well. Vikas is leaving to another place via ship & the port is quite a few steps away from the railway station. vikas leaves after sometime. Kalyani is puzzled about what to do? If she should go to deven's place or should go with vikas?

In the end she decides to be with Vikas & runs very fast to get him on the ship & at last she gets him.

The whole movie tells us about the journey of kalyani. Every actor did full justice with their characters. Ashok kumar  was very nice in his role of Vikas, Dharmendra was also very effective in his character of Deven but the most important thing about the movie was the character of Kalyani which was beautifully portrayed by Nutan. Direction of Bimal Roy was amazing, Music was also very nice & appropriate according to the situations. Creativity shown in the movie was also a very important aspect of the movie & plays a big part in the success of the movie.

All in all, I can say that you guys should watch this movie, I know probably you guys don't like old bomovies but believe me this movie was quite ahead from its time so please watch this movie at least once for the award winning performance of Nutan and then decide yourself that my this review about this movie is right or not?
