"BANDINI" is a Hindi TV Serial being Telecast by NDTV Imagine TV Chann
The plot consists mainly of:
Two Diamond Merchants -Dharam Raj Mahiyavanshi andSaalu Bhai who want to destroy each other.The wives of these two are sisters. Dharam Raj is a widower with five children. He owns a village where his chief diamond craftsman- MADHAV SOLANKI lives. He is bringing up his grand daughter -SANTO whose parents have expired. He is conventional and teaches Santo and her two younger sisters to live with moral values.
Dharam Raj has a sister who looks after the house hold and she considers herself an uncrowned queen of those employed in her house as well as the villagers and workers of their diamond factory.
3.Dharam raj has to marry SANTO so that his workers call off their strike and his diamond consignmenment is shipped on time.Santo is og the age of his daughters.Though he marries her with HINDU SAPTPADI padhatti he abondons SANTO after his shipment is sent. Santo is kept as captive by his sister and put in a very old junk room under lock and key.
4, . the maariage has taken place in absence and without knowledge/consent of DHARAM RAJ's family and is kept secret. But the marriage is leaked out by SAALUBHAI to put DHARAM RAJ in a fix.In retaliation Dharam Raj get Saalu's factory burnt with no insurance paid
Now as to date the serial does not make any sense and the viewers are trying to have their own guesses about how the serial would go on.The serial is very average as"
1.The issue of Lower and Upper Caste is not relevant these days.It is going to add to differences and create hatred among the two classes.
2.The abondonment of SANTO after marriage portrays the highhandedness of RICH overPOOR, employer and employee and owner and servant.
3, The treatment of D.R, 'S sister to SANTO is beastly and an insult to the HINDU MARRIAGE LWAS as well a cruelty towards women and a child put togathrer.
4.When D, Raj married he knew very well that his sons and daughters, parents and family would noy accept the village girl as the MAALKIN of their business empire and house hold then he should have desisted from marriage.But just for the sake of his business he does not hesitate to spoil the life of a teen aged innocent village girl.
- Despite the humiliation and insult showered upon him by the sister of Dharam Raj on Madhav he asks his grand dsaughter to fulfill her duties as per customs.
There are many other snags in the serial and one feels like vomittingby seeing the conduct of the D.R.'s family.Probably EKTA wanted to take advantage out of the popularity of BALIKA VADHU. The case of Anandi is very diffetrent than that of Santo. Anandi was punished for her dis-obedience but otherwise the whole of her In-Laws family loved her.Uless the plot of the story is taken care of I am doubtful that this may affect the PR of other serials on NDTV Imagine because if the serials of a TV Channrel are interesting very few viewers switch on to other channels.
