Yash Raj Films, one of the biggest banners in India who is desperately looking to resurrect the reputation of their banner is back with yet another film Band Baaja Baraat but looks like they will have to wait for their next release because BBB has been rejected by the viewers. On Saturday (2nd day) night show at Broadway there were hardly 20 odd people in the theater.

After giving us boring films like 'Dil Bole Hadippa' & illogical/unconvincing 'Badmaash Company', YRF has presented a film that attempts to be fresh but falters like many Hindi films as it follows the path that is as predictable as the answer to 2 + 2 is.

The film starts on a very promising note as director Maneesh Sharma introduces the two main characters in the first few minutes while the song tarqeeben is being played at the background, which confirms his knowledge as a technician. As the film progresses further with the backdrop of wedding planning the expectations of watching a good entertainer increases to another level.

Anushka Sharma & Ranveer Singh, the two main characters besides belonging to opposite sex are also poles apart when it comes to taking their lives seriously. Anushka is serious about her career with everything planned while Ranveer doesn't know what he wants but becomes partner of Anushka just because he doesn't want to go back to his hometown.

They have an agreement between them, jiske saath vyapaar karo, uske saath pyaar mat karo. After some interesting 45 minutes the film goes back to the typical tried & tested formula, though the interval point & the film for the next 10 minutes raised hopes but that turned out to be an illusion as it goes back to the predictable mode & no prize for guessing the climax. Because you know it & just wait for it to appear on the screen.

Habib Faisal who gave us delightful 'Do Duni Chaar' is responsible for the script of the film & has once again chosen Delhi as the base for the film. His ideas were honest as he tried to use the backdrop of

weddings to narrate the tale but due to the predictable nature of the story he could not create the impact.

Everything happens so easily for Anushka & Ranveer in the film. In this cut throat competitive world, they get almost everything easily without any struggle. Be it their agreement to become partners or their first break, the suppliers, the contracts, etc. The only time they are shown struggling is when they split. And then the way they get united is like a fairy tale that can only happen in films.

Music is passable with some real dhol beats & loud trumpets being used in few songs. Dialogues are average to good, nothing extra ordinary. Photography is good.

YRF has ensured that the budget of the film is kept in control & have succeeded in doing so as almost all the side artists are part time actors, who plays the role of suppliers and they did a good job.

Anushka Sharma enjoys dancing & is undoubtedly a good dancer. She got a good role and did complete justice to it. Her confidence level has gone up & it shows on screen.

Ranveer Singh who did not look good in the promos is a surprise package & as a debutant did a wonderful job. But I doubt his long innings in Bollywood.

Maneesh Sharma though knows his job but was handicapped with the script that was predictable to which even the novel idea of using wedding planning at the backdrop could not save. Let us hope he selects the right script next time to taste success.

Not many people know that a career can be planned as a wedding planner too but there are exceptions. So people who want to consider wedding planning as their career, this film might give them a clue or two provided they do not believe the smooth sailing as shown in the film.

The film is a mix bag of positives & negatives with the final outcome which is just above average. Even though the length of the film is around 2 hours, but it still gives you feeling of uneasiness at times. My advise is it's worth a wait to be watched on TV, which I guess would be premiered soonest.
