Avoid it like the plague. Review on Balle Balle, Andheri, Mumbai

I had the misfortune of spending my Holi evening at Balle Balle, a Punjabi restaurant at Andheri (W). It was nothing less than a miracle that we got a table considering the horde of people waiting outside the restaurant. But thats where the good experience ends.

As soon as we entered, we are overwhelmed by a huge two-sided screen playing MTV incessantly, accompanied by LOUD bhangra-pop which pretty much kills all conversation, not to mention, your appetite. The owner, who doubled up as a maitre-d, showed us to a certain table right in front of the screen. On requesting a less life-threatening location in the eatery, we were rudely shrugged off saying we weren't enough people to fit anywhere else. Thankfully we spoke to another person, presumably the son of the earlier gentleman, who gave us a decent corner table.

Our joy was short-lived as we discovered the remains of a cake under our chair, which the waiters refused to clean. Taking our order took another 20 minutes, a delay beaten only by the time it took them to get our food (a cool 30 minutes). The waiter could not identify what he was getting for us, and botched up royally. Miraculously, another person, a senior waiter, came and sorted the matter. The piece-de-resistance was when my friend had to go get spoons and forks for himself when repeated requests fell on deaf ears.

I would go on to talk about the food itself, but for the overwhelming disgust I feel every time I am reminded of it. In short, it's a place you should take your girlfriend / boyfriend to, on the day you want to end the relationship.
