Bajirao Mastani, the movie, is a refreshing change from the stale and oft-repeated bollywood scripts played by one Khan or the other . Not being run-of –the mill variety, it has beyond doubt proved to be an important milestone in more ways than one . 1 It has demonstrated yet again that the world of bollywood can very well be ruled by someone other than Khans and Kapoors . All you need is actors with genuine talent & passion and director with vision. 2 Ranveer Singh has come of age and has finally arrived . The way he has got into the character and has shown his passion, involvement and indulgence is simply amazing . He looks all set to stay and rule the bollywood 3 Sanjay Leela Bhansali has proved yet again that when it comes to grandeur, scale & appreciation of sense of history, no one can even afford to come close to him . Film industry would do well to draw following lessons from this movie: 1 Non- masala movies too can be immensely successful commercial venture when backed by brilliant direction and packed with proper script, content and powerful presentation 2 One does not necessarily need to indulge in promotional gimmicks and create artificial demand to hit the bull’s eye 3 Historical movies can very well be made without tweaking historical facts & yet be able to grab and hold attention 4 And finally, it is the content & quality of the product that matters the most . Marketing at best can only be a poor substitute, if at all .
