My review is a bit long, but exciting, ' cos you'll know how XCD really is. At first I would like to share my thought on how I finalised and filtered through my research to come to conclusion to buy this bike. I wanted a 100 cc bike with good mileage, comfort and power, because my budget was for a 100 cc bike , but my wishes was a little more... I couldn't get one in my taste. I went through the HH passion, splendor, platina, star city etc and was not satisfied with their performance. I researched not in showrooms but by asking my friends who owned these bikes. The result was: Passion.. under powered/ mileage 55kmpl, Splendor..power ok.. mileage, 55 - 60kmpl..Platina- mileage 70 - 75kmpl, but lacked that extra dum.. Star city- 60 - 70kmpl but no pickup or pulling, just manages to move.. These were replies from my friends who were owners of these bikes. So I stopped for a while and planned not to buy, for the time being.

Then came the XCD from BAJAJ, for a budget of a 100cc bike. I went to have a test ride and fell in love with it. But love at first sight is alway risk. I stopped. waited for a month. I stopped each and every XCD owner who crossed by me and questioned them. These were the conclusionMileage 70+ not even one told less than that some told even 90..Comfort .. the riding position was superb... and had sns spring for good comfort...Pickup ... very fantastic... these were their replies.

Then came my research in the net... result was almost same .. with additional comments like vibration at 38 to 42 Kms, less brakes..and about the looks from behind due its small LED brake light..and a few more minus like faulty fuel meter etc...Keeping all this in mind I compared XCD with 100cc bikes that I mentioned earlier, and XCD was a clear winner, because of its price tag, performance, mileage and ...features as bonus.I didn't stop... I also did a research on 125cc and more bikes like Shine, Glamour, Pulsar, Apache, Unicorn etc.. ( don't want to explain owners reply for lack of space, but nothing they told inspired me) Also I couldn't afford them for few reasons, one was they were too big for me in size( I'm just 5feet3inch tall), so hard for me to handle, and mileage was less even though they had good performance, and they were costly to own and ride too. So here too XCD won over for my daily commuting from home to office and back.So once again I went to the showroom and took a test ride... according to what I researched. One thing I found was that small knocking sound when it touches 38 km/h but goes off after 42kmp/h. I told this to the dealer he told we'll check it out..Keeping this in mind I booked the vehicle, and got delivery the next day. I was so much in love with it that I simply used to roam around with my bike without any reason or any destination. I checked mileage for each and every litre I poured, and was totally satisfied. Now the facts and figures.( not so techie, but genuine)1)Engine power and pickup - far superior when compared to 100cc bikes2)Milage for the first litre I got 68kmpl. then later 70 and 78.. So I give it an average of 75kmpl ( My trip to office and home is 36km up and down, and I pour 1 litre every two days. It's very practical getting above 70kmpl)( with ride control switch on and soft riding I guess, I could get 90+kmpl once or twice)3) Comfort- Its really comfortable.

I can tell you practically I had back pain riding my previous vehicle, but its 4 months since XCD came into my life, now I have forgotten that I have back pain. Isn't that more than enough. It has saved my doctor's bill too. As for the vibration... its not exactly vibration becaue you can't feel it on your body as you ride.. but its a knocking sound that you get when you put the RIDE CONTROL SWITCH. Because it controls the amount of acceleration you give and thus I feel it tries to keep its threshold at that speed, thats all. So if you switch off the ride control switch its ready to flow smoothly, with little more power and oomph, also managing to give 70kmpl+ mlieage. Its a beauty. Afterall its a technology bike, and every bike has its good and bad things. We should see which is more... good or bad... and I found that XCD had more good than bads.So finally what I wanted to say is I am fully satisfied by buying XCD now I've covered 3000+ kms and it has not given me any trouble till now. I want to thank BAJAJ for designing such a good basic vehicle for daily commuting.Hope I didn't drag it too long , even though I coundn't give a Techie review ( there are many techie reviews and specs for XCD in the net)... I feel I've given my experience as a proud owner of the XCD - Bike of the year 2008 . """" UPDATED FEB 18"""" WOW the amount of people reading my review makes me update about my bike..I've crossed over 13750 kms now without any major problem, a year is over now.. Only one problem I faced ... my speedo stopped working.. immediately I went to the showroom and asked them to change it.They asked me 250 rs, but I told its in gaurantee period.. and they took a new one opened the cover and changed it in front of me.. for free... wow.. and I was so happy.. I have guarantee for 30, 000 kms.(extended warranty for extra 500rs) ..2nd update on Feb 17 2010. Wow I've covered 23500 kms without any probs.

Just changed brake shoes and other basic services. Going good. Only one bad news was XCD is stopped. But here too I found good news because the discover 100 cc is DTS SI, so no probs for spare parts, only piston size is changed and put in to discover body, the switches, auto-choke, battery, chain, gearbox, and many more are the same.. but we might not get the plastics which comprises of the body... and that may need to be changed only after a fall or scratched, getting damaged broken etc... Even now my friends who drive my bike are fond of it and want to buy. I'm recommending them Discover DTS SI 100 cc. All the best guys. Fuel effenciency also carrying on as i've mentioned above..

Thanks .. Santosham
