V15-Buy it for its low price, not for patriotism.. Review on Bajaj V15

With the Discover 150 being discontinued, Bajaj V15 is the cheapest 150cc motorcycle now available on market, along with Hero's new Achiever. It does look different from the other motorcycles in this category. Of course looks are subjective but I find the bike quite good looking. Bajaj says they used Indian Navy's Aircraft carrier INS Vikrant's metal for building the bike. But it is just a marketing trick. They might have used the metal in small quantities in the fuel tank of the bike and that is it. This bike is not completely made from the Vikrant's metal. The bike has a seat height of 780 mm so it is suitable for short persons as well. The ride is quite comfortable. In real world we can expect a fuel economy of 50 kmpl. The kerb weight is about 135 kilograms so it is lighter than many of its counterparts. It will be easy to handle for even small riders. But there are certain issues with the bike. One is vibration of the engine at even 70-75 km/hr speed which is not good for a 150 cc bike. The other is the unusual gear shift pattern. The gear pattern is all up unlike other bikes with one down four up.

Bajaj does have a habit of ceasing production of their bikes without any warnings. So be careful if you are about to buy this bike. It is cheap and it can be used as a commuter but it is not a sports bike.
