Help & Support:

Hello, I purchased a bajaj steam iron and after about an year from the purchase, the iron started giving problems. The thermostat ( temperture cut-off switch) had stopped working, making ironing difficult with extreme danger of of fire and short circuit. I called up bajaj service just to be informed that I need to give my iron for repairs at the dealer from whom I had purchased. The dealer kept my iron saying that they will not know what the problem could be and what could be the repair estimate as they do not repair the iron and that a bajaj company repair person would come and repair the same.

After 4 days, I went back to the dealer to collect my iron. The thermostat had been replaced but not set correctly and the iron used to get too hot even at low settings. So I took it back the next day to the dealer again to be told that the setting would take few more days and had to leave the iron with the dealer. This time before I took the delivery of the iron, I checked the setting at the dealers shop. They seemed okay. When I started the iron home after filling water, the water started leaking from the iron.

This was getting ridiculous. I called up the dealer about the problem, who safely washed off his hands saying he just provided a meeting point between the customer and the company repair person and has nothing to do with the problems of the product. Very angry with the service I got from Bajaj, I visited their web site and registered a complaint. The next day, I got a call from their service center, saying that they will look into the problem. The bajaj people came home and took away the iron for checking it. The same day, they told me that the iron was leaking becos the base-plate of the iron had cracked and needed replacement. I demanded a free replacement for all the trouble I was facing, but the bajaj guys refused free replacement. When further enquired, the bajaj people agreed that the base plate of an iron cannot break till the iron is opened for servicing and dropped on the floor. My arguement was that it was the company person who had dropped the iron during repairs, so why should I be made to pay for the company’s mistake. Here, the company very smartly put the blame on the dealer and made me pay for the new base plate( Rs.400) . Bajaj Electricals is an extremely dirty company considering after sales services. You are as good as forgotten once they sell you a bajaj. From that day, I have never bought a bajaj product, and warn everyone about their non-existant after sales service.
