A general trend is that, whenever we see something new, we are drawn towards it. However good or bad it may be, we give it a try. But very few that glitters will be gold. Some things go a long way from being just eyewashers. They become an eyesore for everyone else other than the beholder. And the new Bajaj Pulsar falls exactly in this category. Yes, this is one bike that has captured the attention of many. Already, it is being compared to the Royal Enfield, even though it doesn’t fall in that category. Is this bike good enough? Does it have the power and punch in it to give the rider an exciting experience? How does it perform? Where does it stand? So many questions may be torturing your mind. Chill. All questions are answered here. I am here to enlighten you about the Bajaj Pulsar, the muscular machine, which is all set to rule the bike market.

The Bodybuilder: If you see the styling of Pulsar, the first thing that hits you is the fuel tank. A new dimension has been provided to our perception of styling of a bike. The Pulsar 150 relies on a mix of mildly retro to near contemporary elements to take an iron-fist-in velvet glove stance with its belligerent tank and gracefully contoured plastic panels. What I liked in Pulsar were the seat and the design of the rear end. Oh my God!! What a masterpiece!! The front end rocks with retro looks and the counter pod is equipped with speedo meter, rev counter and fuel indicator. Unlike its counterparts, CBZ and Fiero, the Pulsar has carved a niche for itself in the silencer design. You look at it and no wonder, you'll say ,'' It is a man''. Superb styling indeed.

Strength and Suspension: Being the heaviest in its category, the Pulsar is supported by downtube cradle chassis and telescopic forks. Does it support such heavy weight? Oh Yeah, with aplomb. This so well reflects in the suspension the bike provides. You just have to have a ride on it and then you would exclaim, ''This bike rocks''. The bike can handle both the clumsy city roads as well as the highway fabulously. The bike is so smooth that it'll give great pleasure in riding.

The Plant: Pulsar is equipped with a four-stroke, 150cc, 12bhp engine which provides that necessary kick in a ride. The single cylinder air-cooled engine is a wonder of sorts. When you are on a highway and moving as fast as you can, you should see the engine roar. I tell you what, riding this bike is a God-given gift, for the engine is such that it'll leave you crippled. Superlative work done out here. Equipped with CV carburetor and electronic ignition system, the engine is just perfect.

Braking and Performance: As you see, any bike like Pulsar needs to have good brakes to sustain the heavy load under testing circumstances. The Pulsar is equipped with disc brakes in the front end and drum brakes at the rear. The brakes work wonderfully well. What with the bike having a 5-speed gearbox, the brakes need to be strong. And they are. They have never let me down in any situation. Clean chit out here as well.

With a top speed of 100 kmph, the Pulsar is an awesome performer. It easily beats the CBZ and Fiero. It doesn’t give an impression but proves by performing. Move faster and you'll love the bike even more. Such is the bike's nature of performance. It is steady in all circumstances.

Comfort: However the bike may perform, it should provide comfort. The riding comfort in the Pulsar is pleasing. You'll ride on it all day and yet something in you would ask you to carry on. The seat is neatly cushioned leaving no chance for sore butts. Handling the bike is not a problem either. Since it is a heavyweight, one needs to take some care in sharp turns and bulldozing traffic. But it'll never let you down. Atleast, it hasn’t in my case.

Economy: A 150cc bike is not really expected to be very economical. But Pulsar springs the biggest surprise here. Giving an overall mileage of 60 kmpl, the bike beats everything in its category. Over a period it might marginally reduce but even 55 kmpl is awesome. This is exactly what has made it a winner.

So here comes the time for judgement. This bike, the Bajaj Pulsar 150 is a bigtime winner. Everything in Pulsar is lucrative, promising and worthy. Lovely looks, awesome engine, newish ignition, great gears and more so the ease of handling personifies this bike. The fabulous fuel efficiency makes it outstanding. This bike, seemingly born in a gym, rocks big time. Pulsar, my love, is a wonder. Only an owner know the feel and so, I strongly recommend this bike to everybody wanting a bike in its class.
