I was riding CD 100 SS and was loyal to Hero Honda because of its performance. So when I decided to buy a new bike I thought I will go for Honda Unicorn.

There was much hype about the bike and for no reason (may be to create hype) the details of the bike and even the picture was kept secret. When I first saw the bike in the showroom, I didn't feel like I was looking at a brand new model - that too from Honda.

I thought may be I expected a bit too much. I went for a test ride and found that the engine is very smooth and the pick up was good. But the transmission was not all that good (i have used this type of gear in RX 100 and had no problems then).

Then I was told that self starter is not even an option. To add to it the showroom people were so arrogant and acted as if they did a favour to me by showing the bike to me and letting me take a test ride. Since my friends owned Pulsar DTSI, I had driven it and was quite happy about the performance.

One of my friends who knew bike mechanics throughly guided me on the positives of Pulsar such as smooth ride and riding position, wonderful braking, lights, the power and the feel. The looks as we all know is best in Pulsar. So right-away I decided to buy DTSI. Since I went with my friends who bought Pulsar in the same showroom a couple of months back, the sales person was very friendly to us. Its been two months since I took delivery and I continue to be a proud owner.

I drive 30 Kms everyday approx. and the bike has been a very good companion to me. The positives and features of this bike have been discussed by many people and I feel its a bit late to talk about the features.

There is of course a problem in the bike. When we shift from 4th gear to 5th gear, we should not raise it immediately after shifting gears, if we do so the gear will slip. I have observed this problem in my friends' bikes also.

Another negative factor is service. You have to be very choosy when to go for service because some dealers do not maintain the standards and because of the volume, they just do eyewash service. Pulsar owners better be careful.

Overall I would say that Pulsar DTSI is a very good choice for Indian conditions.
